Objective: To examine the association of "weekend warrior" (WW) pattern and physical activity distributed throughout the week with mortality risk.
Participants And Methods: In this cohort study of 95,468 participants in the UK Biobank from 2013 through 2015, participants were grouped by accelerometer-derived physical activity levels: inactive (moderate to vigorous physical activity [MVPA] <150 min/wk using World Health Organization guidelines), active WW (≥150 minutes of MVPA per week and ≥50% of total MVPA over 1 to 2 days), and active regular (≥150 minutes of MVPA but not active WW). Cox regression analyzed associations of activity patterns with all-cause mortality and 10 categories of cause-specific mortality and whether the association differed by sedentary time (≤6, 7 to 12, or ≥13 hours) and light physical activity (≤60, 61 to 150, or ≥151 min/d).

Objective: To investigate the relationship between circulating branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in a national population-based cohort study.
Methods: UK Biobank, a prospective study involving 22 recruitment centers across the United Kingdom. For this analysis, we included 266,840 participants from the UK Biobank who had available BCAA data and no history of MACE at baseline.
Background: Colquhounia root tablet (CRT) has been in treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases for decades, but large-scale clinical observations are lacking. The novelty of this study lies in providing the first large-scale real-world clinical data to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of CRT on chronic glomerulopathy and to explore potential molecular mechanisms.
Methods: This is a single-arm retrospective study in the real-world.
Introduction: To characterise age-mixing patterns among index cases and contacts of COVID-19, and explore when patients are most infectious during the disease process.
Methods: This study examined all initial 90 885 confirmed index cases in Shanghai and their 450 770 close contacts. A generalised additive mixed model was used to analyse the associations of the number of close contacts with different demographic and clinical characteristics.
Due to the lack of an in-depth evaluation of urothelial carcinoma (UC) HER2 expression in both primary and recurrent UC, we examined possible clinical and pathological variables associated with altered UC HER2 expression. The HER2 status and clinicopathological features of primary UCs and matched recurrences from 2015 to 2023 (n = 1352) were compared by evolution category (stable or altered). In 1352 UC patients, HER2 protein expression was linked with age, histological grade, and recurrence.

Objective: Patient complaints are crucial for improving the service quality of hospitals and healthcare professionals as well as enhancing patient satisfaction. The 12320 and 12345 hotlines in Shanghai are key platforms for receiving public health complaints. Understanding the temporal and spatial changes in the growth rate of patient complaints in Shanghai is essential for resource allocation and service quality improvement.

A growing number of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been linked to malignancies, and many researchers consider lncRNAs potential biomarkers for prognosis. However, there is limited evidence available to determine the role of lncRNAs in the prognosis of SARC.

Design: We established an OSF model for rats by injecting Arecoline into the oral mucosa of rats to study the impact of JDK and Quercetin on the progression of OSF and OSCC. Then, the viability, proliferation, and migration ability of Arecoline-induced hOMF, CAL27 and SCC-25 cells in JDK and quercetin intervention were detected.
Background: In many settings, a large fraction of the population has both been vaccinated against and infected by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Hence, quantifying the protection provided by post-infection vaccination has become critical for policy. We aimed to estimate the protective effect against SARS-CoV-2 reinfection of an additional vaccine dose after an initial Omicron variant infection.

This study aimed to examine the association between hospital-treated infectious diseases and the risk of NDDs among patients with prediabetes and diabetes and whether the associations differed by the number of infections and potential effect modifiers.
Study Design And Method: Using data from the UK Biobank, we conducted a prospective study involving 69,731 individuals, consisting of 48,149 participants with prediabetes and 21,582 participants with diabetes.
Background: The use of lipid-lowering drugs in the dialysis population has been controversial and there is no target for the dialysis population.
Objectives: To elucidate the dose-response relationship between lipids and all-cause mortality in the dialysis population.
Methods: Computer searches of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, and Wanfang.
Background: Aging is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes (T2D), but individuals of the same chronological age may vary in their biological aging rate. The associations of Phenotypic Age Acceleration (PhenoAgeAccel), a new accelerated biological aging indicator based on clinical chemistry biomarkers, with the risk of dynamic progression remain unclear. We aimed to assess these associations and examine whether these associations varied by genetic risk and lifestyle.

Personal trauma history, self-compassion and resilience are important factors influencing STS in healthy professionals. However, whether these variables are associated with social media-induced STS in college students and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Methods: The study included children with anemia whose underlying cause could not be definitively identified through routine clinical diagnosis. Clinical data was collected and genetic diagnosis of HS was confirmed using next-generation sequencing.
Background: Mechanisms underlying the association of life-course adiposity with incident hypertension in adulthood have not been comprehensively investigated. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential biochemical and metabolomic mechanisms underlying the association between adiposity and incident hypertension.
Methods: A total of 180,527 participants from the UK Biobank aged 37 to 73 years were included.
Purpose: Metabolic reprogramming, particularly the Warburg effect, plays a crucial role in the onset and progression of tumors. The ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 Q2 (UBE2Q2) has been identified overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our aim was to determine if UBE2Q2 plays a role in regulating glycolysis, contributing to the carcinogenesis of HCC.

Research has been done to clarify the processes by which helminth-derived molecules can inhibit immunological disorders. This study aimed to evaluate the ability of Trichinella spiralis chitinase (Ts-chit) to ameliorate the symptoms of allergic airway inflammation.

Introduction: It is well acknowledged that lipids assume a critical role in oocyte maturation and early embryonic metabolism, this study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the lipid composition of plasma and follicular fluid (FF), and the consequences of embryonic development. This study compared the lipidomic profiles of paired plasma and FF samples obtained from sixty-five Chinese women who underwent assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments.
Methods: Non-targeted lipidomics analysis.
Background: The presence of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations and 1p/19q codeletion significantly influences the diagnosis and prognosis of patients with lower-grade gliomas (LGGs). The ability to predict these molecular signatures preoperatively can inform surgical strategies. This study sought to establish an interpretable imaging feature set for predicting molecular signatures and overall survival in LGGs.

Methods: We conducted an ambidirectional cohort study with 78 prospectively enrolled patients with RL-IPostC and endovascular thrombectomy and 129 retrospectively enrolled patients with endovascular thrombectomy. The RL-IPostC procedure involved 5 cycles of 15-s balloon inflation and deflation in the ipsilateral internal carotid artery.
Objective: Extracellular matrix protein 1 (ECM1) serves as a gatekeeper of hepatic fibrosis by maintaining transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in its latent form. ECM1 knockout (KO) causes latent (L) TGF-β1 activation, resulting in hepatic fibrosis with rapid mortality. In chronic liver disease (CLD), ECM1 decreases with increasing CLD severity.
