A cerium(III)-containing silicotungstate, [HN(CH)]NaK[KCe(SiWO)(HO)]·18.5HO (), was successfully synthesized and characterized. Structure analysis reveals that is composed of two {SiWO} units connected by one cerium(III) cation to form a typical 1:2 sandwich structure, which is further expanding into a 1D chain linked by K ions.

CD36-mediated ROS/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway exacerbates cognitive impairment in APP/PS1 mice after noise exposure.

There is an association between noise exposure and cognitive impairment, and noise may have a more severe impact on patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment; however, the mechanisms need further investigation. This study used the classic AD animal model APP/PS1 mice to simulate the AD population, and C57BL/6J mice to simulate the normal population. We compared their cognitive abilities after noise exposure, analyzed changes in Cluster of Differentiation (CD) between the two types of mice using transcriptomics, identified the differential CD molecule: CD36 in APP/PS1 after noise exposure, and used its pharmacological inhibitor to intervene to explore the mechanism by which CD36 affects APP/PS1 cognitive abilities.

We have employed the highly accurate multistate complete active space second-order perturbation theory (MS-CASPT2) method to investigate the photoinduced excited state relaxation properties of one unnatural base, namely Z. Upon excitation to the S state of Z, the internal conversion to the S state would be dominant. From the S state, two intersystem crossing paths leading to the T and T states and one internal conversion path to the S state are possible.

The effects of noise exposure on hippocampal cognition in C57BL/6 mice via transcriptomics.

Background: Noise is an important environmental stressor in the industrialized world and has received increasing attention in recent years. Although epidemiological research has extensively demonstrated the relationship between noise and cognitive impairment, the specific molecular mechanisms and targets remain to be fully explored and understood.

Methods: Sixty 2-week old male guinea pigs were randomly divided into 4 groups with 15 guinea pigs in each group, according to the random numbers generated by SPSS software: control, LIM, saline and JKSQP groups. The control group includes animals with no treatment, while the guinea pigs in the other 3 groups received lens-induced myopization on the right eyes throughout the experiment (for 8 weeks).

Purpose: To examine the association between near work, screen time including TV and outdoor time with myopia in children from the Sunflower Myopia Asian Eye Epidemiology Consortium (AEEC).

Methods: We analysed AEEC cross-sectional data (12 241 children) on risk factors (near work, screen time including TV and outdoor time) and myopia of six population-based studies (China, Hong Kong and Singapore). Cycloplegic refraction and axial length (AL) measurements were included.

Extraction of pulmonary Trachea by dynamic tubular edge contour algorithm.

Background: One of the difficulties and hot topics in the field of computer vision and image processing is extraction of the high-level pulmonary trachea from patients' lung CT images. Current, common bronchial extraction methods are limited by the phenomenon of bronchial loss and leakage, and cannot extract the higher-level pulmonary trachea, which does not meet the requirements of guiding lung puncture procedures.

Methods: Based on the characteristic "tubular structure" (ring or semi-closed ring) of the pulmonary trachea in CT images, an algorithm based on dynamic tubular edge contour is proposed.

Differences in ocular biometry between urban and rural children matched by refractive error: the Shandong Children Eye Study.

Purpose: To determine the differences in mean ocular dimensions between urban and rural children and identify possible influencing factors.

Methods: This work uses previously published data from the Shandong Children Eye Study, which was based on a random cluster sampling applied to a cross-sectional school-based study design in the rural Guanxian County and Weihai city. All children underwent auto-refractometry and biometry under cycloplegia.
