The prevalence of pressure injuries (PIs) is a widely used clinical indicator of patient safety and quality of care. Nurses' understanding of pressure injury (PI) can significantly impact the treatment outcomes for patients. This study, based on latent profile analysis (LPA), reveals the characteristics associated with PI knowledge levels among clinical nurses in district and county tertiary medical institutions.

The problem of repeated epidemic fluctuations in the normalized prevention and control stage is revealed by data from January 20, 2020, to January 30, 2023. In order to improve the collaborative response of the public and government departments to public health emergencies and avoid repeated fluctuations of the epidemic, a tripartite evolutionary game model of the public, local government, and central government departments is constructed, focusing on the evolutionary paths and evolutionary stabilization strategies of the three subjects, and the influence of each element on the evolutionary results is simulated by numerical simulation in Matlab, and based on the inadequacy of the static reward and punishment mechanism, a dynamic Based on the shortcomings of static reward and punishment mechanism, dynamic reward and punishment mechanism is introduced to control the stability of the evolving system. The study shows that (1) with the increase of the initial willingness of the three parties, the rate of the public choosing the discretionary flow strategy slows down, and the collaborative prevention and control process can be accelerated.

NOTCH1 belongs to the NOTCH family of proteins that regulate cell fate and inflammatory responses. Somatic and germline NOTCH1 variants have been implicated in cancer, Adams-Oliver syndrome, and cardiovascular defects. We describe 7 unrelated patients grouped by the presence of leukoencephalopathy with calcifications and heterozygous de novo gain-of-function variants in NOTCH1.

Neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as anxiety and depression often appear early in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and a comorbid, anxiety-like phenotype is also found in rodents with AD. However, the underlying mechanisms behind these conditions and potential therapeutic targets to treat them remain unclear. In this study, we used 5 familial AD mutations (5xFAD) mice that developed early amyloid β-amyloid deposition and related synaptic loss and memory deficits to identify a potential mechanism behind abnormally high anxiety levels observed in these subjects.

Article Synopsis
  • Nattokinase is a valuable enzyme for health supplements, and optimizing various conditions can boost its production, specifically using Pichia pastoris for expression.
  • Researchers aimed to produce high levels of nattokinase from B. subtilis natto by constructing multicopy expression strains, but found stability issues; ultimately, a single copy strain yielded significant amounts of protein.
  • The study concludes that the Pichia pastoris system is effective for large-scale and cost-efficient nattokinase production, showing promising heat and pH stability along with thrombolytic activity.

Sleep thermal environments substantially impact sleep quality. To study the sleep thermal environment and thermal comfort in China, this study carried out on-site monitoring of thermal environmental parameters in peoples' homes, including 166 households in five climate zones, for one year. A questionnaire survey on sleep thermal comfort and adaptive behavior was also conducted.

There have been many studies on the model of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from individual dry building material and have been validated in the chamber. Actually, VOC emitted from multiple dry building materials simultaneously indoor. The concentration of VOC indoor increases and will inhibit the VOC emission of dry building materials indoor.

High energy/power density, capacitance, and long-life cycles are urgently demanded for energy storage electrodes. Porous carbons as benchmark commercial electrode materials are underscored by their (electro)chemical stability and wide accessibility, yet are often constrained by moderate performances associated with their powdery status. Here controlled vacuum pyrolysis of a poly(ionic liquid) membrane template, advantageous features including good conductivity (132 S cm at 298 K), interconnected hierarchical pores, large specific surface area (1501 m g), and heteroatom doping are realized in a single carbon membrane electrode.

To investigate the effect of medicated thread moxibustion onapoptosis in hippocampal neuronsin a rat model of chronic cerebral ischemic vascular dementia. A total of 40 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal group and sham-operated group (7 rats each), and rat model of chronic cerebral ischemic vascular dementia (14 rats). The model group rats were treated with medicated thread moxibustion two weeks after surgery, once a day, with one day break every six days, (24 times in all)and an observation period of 4 weeks.

Object skeletons are useful for object representation and object detection. They are complementary to the object contour, and provide extra information, such as how object scale (thickness) varies among object parts. But object skeleton extraction from natural images is very challenging, because it requires the extractor to be able to capture both local and non-local image context in order to determine the scale of each skeleton pixel.

ATP-binding cassette transporters mediate the transbilayer movement of a vast number of substrates in or out of cells in organisms ranging from bacteria to humans. Current alternating access models for ABC exporters including the multidrug and Lipid A transporter MsbA from Escherichia coli suggest a role for nucleotide as the fundamental source of free energy. These models involve cycling between conformations with inward- and outward-facing substrate-binding sites in response to engagement and hydrolysis of ATP at the nucleotide-binding domains.

An undulator-based vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) beamline (BL03U), intended for combustion chemistry studies, has been constructed at the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) in Hefei, China. The beamline is connected to the newly upgraded Hefei Light Source (HLS II), and could deliver photons in the 5-21 eV range, with a photon flux of 10(13) photons s(-1) at 10 eV when the beam current is 300 mA. The monochromator of the beamline is equipped with two gratings (200 lines mm(-1) and 400 lines mm(-1)) and its resolving power is 3900 at 7.

A low-cost disposable colorimetric microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μPAD) was developed for the determination of nitrite and nitrate. Nitrite is determined directly by the Griess reaction while nitrate is first reduced to nitrite in a hydrophilic channel of the μPAD with immobilized zinc microparticles. This μPAD is fabricated by a simple and inexpensive inkjet printing method.

Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved cellular process through cell degradation of own protein aggregates or organelles to survive. Autophagy is closely related to many life activities, and especially, its dysfunctions might cause many diseases and physiological problems, such as tumorigenesis, neurodegeneration and microbial infection. In recent years, many studies found that epigenetic modifications may regulate the occurrence of autophagy and also play an important role in the process of autophgy biological function.

This study was aimed to explore the correlation of mean platelet volume (MPV), fibrinogen (FIB) and blood rheology with the youth patients with cerebral infarction, so as to provide the basis for the clinical early diagnosis and treatment. The 109 patients with cerebral infarction aged between 18 - 45 were divided into three group: the large (> 10 cm(3)), middle (4 - 10 cm(3)) and small (< 4 cm(3)) area infarction; 30 healthy persons were served as control group. All the four groups were subjected to 16 examinations, such as MPV, FIB, and rheology (Lηb, Mηb, Hηb, ηp, Lηr, Mηr, Hηr, KVE, EAI, ERI, EDI, EEI, HCT, ESR).

The ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily is one of the largest protein families with representatives in all kingdoms of life. Members of this superfamily are involved in a wide variety of transport processes with substrates ranging from small ions to relatively large polypeptides and polysaccharides. The G subfamily of ABC transporters consists of half-transporters, which oligomerise to form the functional transporter.

The yeast Candida glycerinogenes produces a high yield of glycerol only in response to a medium-osmotic stress, but little is known about the relationship between osmoadaptation and glycerol metabolism. The CgTPI gene encoding triose phosphate isomerase of C. glycerinogenes was cloned and sequenced, and its functionality was confirmed by complementation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae tpi1 Delta.
