Base editing is preferable for bacterial gene inactivation without generating double strand breaks, requiring homology recombination or highly efficient DNA delivery capability. However, the potential of base editing is limited by the adjoined dependence on the editing window and protospacer adjacent motif (PAM). Herein, we report an unconstrained base editing system to enable the inactivation of any genes of interest (GOIs) in bacteria.

Liquid biopsy is a promising approach, but the pretreatment of RNA extraction is labor-intensive and impairs accuracy. Here we develop size-coded hydrogel microbeads for extraction-free quantification of miR-21, miR-205, and miR-375 directly from serum.

The primary bottleneck lies in the difficulty of finding hole transport materials (HTMs) that can both match the energy levels of blue perovskite materials and exhibit efficient hole transport performance. Herein, a novel non-conjugated polyethylene carbazole-based polymer (P-AGCz) is developed that has excellent solution processability and serves as an efficient dopant-free HTM for PeLEDs.

The sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus is an economically significant marine species in China, with numerous studies focusing on its diverse physiological processes, including seasonal reproduction and aestivation. The neuroendocrine system plays a critical role in regulating these physiological transitions. In this study, we utilized transcriptomic techniques and bioinformatics tools to identify key functional genes in the nerve ring of A.

Therefore, it is necessary to develop a durable, efficient, low-cost and environmentally friendly OER electrocatalyst. In the present work, a photo-responsive fullerene (C) was encapsulated in the cavity of cobalt-containing flake-like zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (C@F-ZIF-67).

Understanding the stability of single nanoparticles is crucial for optimizing their performance in various applications, including catalysis. In this study, we employed electrochemiluminescence (ECL) imaging to investigate the temporal stability of individual Au and Pt nanoparticles within precisely engineered arrays. Our results reveal significant differences in the stability of Au and Pt NPs.

Bacterial DNA can be detected in metabolic tissues during the onset of these diseases, highlighting its role in the development of metabolic diseases. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are involved in the delivery of bacterial DNA to the local tissues, and its sensing by the host triggers local and system inflammation.

However, conventional electrolytes containing free active solvents are highly susceptible to decomposition, particularly at the interfaces of lithium anode and high-voltage cathode.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 136 patients with solitary T1N0M0 PTC who were treated with MWA and followed up for more than 5 years. Outcomes were compared between patients with T1a and T1b disease.
Background: Elevated mammographic density is associated with increased breast cancer risk. However, the contribution of longitudinal changes in mammographic density to breast cancer risk beyond initial mammographic density levels, considering familial breast cancer risk and menopausal status, remains uncertain but holds important clinical implications.
Methods: In a nested case-control study within the Sister Study (323 cases, 899 controls; 12,095 mammograms), a cohort enriched for family history of breast cancer, we examined case-control status in relation to the largest annual change in percent density and dense area using mammograms available spanning 5.
Background: Under global warming, high temperature (HT) has become a major meteorological factor affecting soybean production. To explore the candidate genes and regulatory mechanism of the soybean bud response to HT stress, previously identified as HT-tolerant ('Handou14'; HD14) and HT-sensitive ('Jiadou36'; JD36) were treated for 5 days in an artificial climate incubator either with HT (43 °C (day)/ 33 °C (night), 16 h light/8 h darkness) or the non-stress growth condition (25 °C, 16 h light/8 h darkness) as the control at the bud stage were used as experimental materials in this study. After HT treatment, changes in physiological indicators including hypocotyl length, enzyme activity and hormone content were detected; at the same time, the cotyledons, hypocotyls, and main roots were collected for transcriptome sequencing analysis.

Objectives: The study aimed to explore the association between thyroid hormone (TH) sensitivity and obesity assessed by body mass index (BMI) and visceral adiposity index (VAI) in euthyroid adults.
Methods: This cross-sectional study used the thyroid feedback quantile-based index (TFQI), thyroid stimulating hormone index (TSHI), and thyrotrophic T4 resistance index (TT4RI) to indicate central TH sensitivity, and VAI to assess visceral obesity. Participants were categorized according to tertiles.

Perillaldehyde (PAE), a prevalent flavoring agent, has raised safety concerns due to conflicting evidence regarding its toxicity. This study provides a comprehensive assessment of the developmental and neurotoxic effects of PAE in zebrafish, elucidating the underlying mechanisms of its toxicity. Results showed that PAE affected the viability and hatching rate of zebrafish at 96 h postfertilization with the 50 % lethal concentration (LC50) of 7.

Glucocorticoids (GCs) are well-established anti-inflammatory agents, with cortisol, an endogenous GC, exerting pivotal regulatory effects on normal physiological processes. However, the immune regulatory role of cortisol in teleost fish, particularly in inflammation induced by pathogenic infection, remains largely unexplored. Here, we revealed that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) triggers a pro-inflammatory response in the large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea), as evidenced by increased expression of key pro-inflammatory cytokines and activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway.

The export of bioactive BRs to the apoplast is essential for BR signaling initiation, which requires binding of a BR molecule to the extracellular domains of the plasma membrane-localized receptor complex. We have previously shown that the Arabidopsis thaliana ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter ABCB19 functions as a BR exporter and, together with its close homolog ABCB1, positively regulates BR signaling.
