For uniform polarization of syncytial or cable structures at a large area with current passed via extracellular electrodes the extracellular longitudinal gradient of potential must be proportional to distance from the edge of preparation. In this paper the profile of conducting plate was found analytically which allows to obtain such a distribution of potentials. The profile is formed by hyperbola and its orthogonal asymptotes.

Assuming that variation of nuclease sensitivity along nucleosomal DNA can basically be attributed to orientations of sugar--phosphate bonds relative to histone core, the pitch of chromatin DNA is estimated to be 10.33--10.40 base pairs.

Our research showed in the endotoxic shock no fundamental and durable changes with reference to oxygen partial pressure and oxyhemoglobin saturation of the arterial blood within the first two hours. On the other hand the oxygen contents of the arterial blood decreased progressively in connection with the progressive decrease of hemoglobin. In detail the arterial oxygen partial pressure decreased within the first 30 minutes after the endotoxin injection and normalized itself by the sixtieth minute, afterwards it remained stationary.

Screening studies are carried out of the pharmacological activity of 3,4-dihydropapaverine (DHP) and three of its newly-synthesized derivatives: 6'-iodo-DHP, 6'-bromo-DHP and 6'-iodu-DHP methiodide. All compounds studied manifest central depressive action which is manifested in general depression, potentiation of hexobarbital anaesthesia, without inducing sleep when independently applied, as well as inhibition of the spontaneous and amphetamine-induced motor activity of mice. 6'-Iodo-DHP and its methiodide manifest analgesic effect.

A model of the nucleosome core is proposed based on a topologically linear array of histones attached sequentially to DNA. The linear complex folds helically forming a spring-like particle. Different variants of the particle are discussed (cylindrical springs with and without histone-histone contacts between turns of the helix, solenoidal spring).

A total of 2400 incomplete helminthological postmortem examinations were carried out with sheep in 1972-1976. Four species of helminths were found in the liver: D. lanceatum (80.

The idea that DNA in chromatin can be packed smoothly, without breaking of base-stacking interactions, has been explored by both energetical estimations and stereochemical model building. A model of deformed DNA is built that fits reasonably to the known dimensions of a nucleosome. The model has slightly changed torsion angles in the sugarphosphate moieties relative to B DNA, varying gradually along the chains.
