Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering-Based Multimodal Techniques: Advances and Perspectives.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy is a versatile molecular fingerprinting technique with rapid signal readout, high aqueous compatibility, and portability. To translate SERS for real-world applications, it is pertinent to overcome inherent challenges, including high sample variability and heterogeneity, matrix effects, and nonlinear SERS signal responses of different analytes in complex (bio)chemical matrices with numerous interfering species. In this perspective, we highlight emerging SERS-based multimodal techniques to address the key roadblocks to improving the sensitivity, specificity, and reliability of (bio)chemical detection, bioimaging, theragnosis, and theragnostic.

Wear simulation of UHMWPE against the different counterface roughness in reciprocating unidirectional sliding motion.

Wear simulations of UHMWPE can economically and conveniently predict the performance of wear resistant bushings used for sealing or other reciprocating unidirectional sliding motion. In this study, pin on plate tribological experiments and microscopic analysis was done to obtained the wear profiles, wear volume and wear mechanism of UHMWPE against the counterface with different surface roughness of which Ra range is 0.03 ~ 2 μm.

Guideline for the cognitive assessment and follow-up in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (2024 edition).

This practice guideline focuses on the cognitive assessment for mild cognitive impairment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. To achieve the standardization and normalization of its clinical practice and generate individualized intervention, the National Core Cognitive Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, the Cognitive Disorders Branch of Chinese Geriatic Society, the Dementia Group of Neurology Branch of Guangdong Medical Association and specialists from Hong Kong and Macao developed guidelines based on China's actual conditions and efficiency, economic cost and accuracy. The article addresses the significance, background, and the process of the assessment and follow-up to realize the promotion and dissemination of cognitive assessment.

Comparison of a novel hand-held retractor-assisted transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion by the wiltse approach and posterior TLIF: a one-year prospective controlled study.

Background: This study aims to compare the clinical outcomes and safety of a novel hand-held retractor system-assisted Wiltse TLIF with that P-TLIF and assess whether this hand-held retractor system assisted Wiltse TLIF can yield less paraspinal muscle injury.

Methods: 56 patients (P-TLIF: 26, Wiltse TLIF: 30) were included in this one year prospective controlled study. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage, mobilization time, and discharge time were recorded.

Objective: To examine, dissect, and understand the molecular mechanisms and combinatorial effects of Zuogui (, ZGP) and Yougui pills (, YGP) in 4-vinyl cyclohexene diepoxide (4-VCD)-induced Perimenopausal syndrome (PMS).

Methods: Using the 4-VCD-induced PMS mouse model, uterine and ovary index were measured, and serum sex steroidal hormone levels were evaluated after treatment with ZGP, YGP, ZGP + YGP, estradiol valerate (EV), and Gengnian An (gengnianan, GNA). Histopathological examinations, ingredient-target network predictions, western blotting, and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) analyses were performed to ascertain the possible pharmacological effects and molecular mechanisms of ZYP and YGP.

Application effect of "six heart" nursing model intervention in combination with comfort nursing in patients with primary liver cancer undergoing radiotherapy.

To investigate the effects of combining a "six heart" nursing model intervention with comfortable nursing in patients suffering from primary liver cancer receiving radiotherapy. Between March 2017 to March 2022, 70 patients having liver cancer who received radiotherapy at our hospital were chosen and separated into observation and control groups employing the random number table technique, and each group consisted of 35 cases. Patients of the observation group received "six heart" nursing model intervention in addition to comfort nursing based on conventional intervention, while the control group's patients received standard nursing intervention during radiotherapy.

There remains little understanding of fruit and vegetable wastage and the influencing factors within retail. This study aimed to examine the processes contributing to vegetable and fruit wastage in traditional farmers' markets widely existing in China, Thailand, and South Korea, with the farmers' market in Hangzhou, China used as a case study. Questionnaires and follow-up surveys were conducted with the market stakeholders (market managers, retailers, and market cleaners) from April 2021 to January 2022.

Where Nanosensors Meet Machine Learning: Prospects and Challenges in Detecting Disease X.

Disease X is a hypothetical unknown disease that has the potential to cause an epidemic or pandemic outbreak in the future. Nanosensors are attractive portable devices that can swiftly screen disease biomarkers on site, reducing the reliance on laboratory-based analyses. Vertical vs horizontal bullying: A need of socio-interactive ethical trainings at workplace.

Bullying at workplaces is a growing problem associated with several antecedents and outcomes of psychological disorders. Extant literature shows the relationship of victimization with the owning-up curriculum to confront bullying, but so far there is little research to cure the issue of bullying through ethics and there is no study to check the impact of ethical lessons and exercises in training materials to curb bullying at workplace. The current paper is based on a literature review of aggression and bullying, and chiefly addresses the HR practices in rescuing the people from peer victimization.

LncRNA SNHG1 regulates vascular endothelial cell proliferation and angiogenesis via miR-196a.

Inflammatory cytokines are important protagonists in the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, triggering effects throughout the atherosclerotic vessels due to the destruction in proliferation, migration and angiogenesis of endothelial cells. In this study, we found SNHG1 is upregulated in TNF-α-treated HUVECs. We silenced SNHG1 and found it inhibited vascular endothelial cell proliferation and angiogenesis.

Correlation analysis of VHL and Jade-1 gene expression in human renal cell carcinoma.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation of von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor (VHL) mRNA expression and jade family PHD finger 1 (Jade-1) gene expression in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Another aim of this study was to analyze the relationship of these two genes with clinicalpathological features of the RCC patients.

Since Alzheimer's disease (AD) is becoming the prevalent dementia in the whole world, more underlying mechanisms are emerging. Long time has the transcription factor NF-κB been identified to participate in AD pathogenesis, various studies have focused on the causes and effects of AD that are linked to NF-κB. In this review we discuss diverse environmental stimuli including oxidative stress, neuroinflammation and metabolism, involved signaling pathways such as PI3K/AKT, MAPK and AGE/RAGE/GSK-3 and newly found ncRNAs that mediate neuron toxicity or neuron protection through NF-κB activation and the following response associated with the same factors in AD.

Burnout among anaesthetists in Chinese hospitals: a multicentre, cross-sectional survey in 6 provinces.

Objectives: Anesthesiology has reached a new stage which anaesthesia safety is significantly affected by human factors. The number of Chinese anaesthetists has increased to nearly twice as many as that in 2005. Attributed to traditional concepts, many problems in anesthesiology persist in Chinese hospitals.

Drooping of apical convex rib-vertebral angle in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis of more than 40 degrees: a prognostic factor for progression.

Study Design: It is a retrospective analysis on radiograms of 113 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients with a curve of 40 degrees or more at the time of presentation.

Objectives: Our aim was to find out the prognostic factor for the curve progression for this group.

Summary And Background: There is general consensus in favor of operation when the curve is more than 40 degrees for AIS.

Equivalent switching dose from oral risperidone to risperidone long-acting injection: a 48-week randomized, prospective, single-blind pharmacokinetic study.

Objective: Previous studies showed clinical benefit of risperidone long-acting injection in the treatment of schizophrenia. However, the equivalent switching dose from oral risperidone to risperidone long-acting injection was still in debate. This study, conducted among hospitalized patients, included a long-enough study period and optimal control of drug compliance to test the equivalent switching dose.

Initial experiences with subcutaneous recombinant human hyaluronidase.

We report here our retrospective observations on the use of recombinant human hyaluronidase (rHuPH20) for the facilitation of subcutaneous hydration and drug infusion. Thirty-two patients were treated with rHuPH20 in a hospice setting over a 6-month period. Of these, 26 received this agent to enhance hypodermoclysis with standard hydration fluids for symptom control of delirium, myoclonus and mild to moderate dehydration.
