Background: Depression is a global mental disorder, and traditional diagnostic methods mainly rely on scales and subjective evaluations by doctors, which cannot effectively identify symptoms and even carry the risk of misdiagnosis. Brain-Computer Interfaces inspired deep learning-assisted diagnosis based on physiological signals holds promise for improving traditional methods lacking physiological basis and leads next generation neuro-technologies. However, traditional deep learning methods rely on immense computational power and mostly involve end-to-end network learning.

Background: Ataxia Telangiectasia (AT) is a genetic disorder characterized by compromised DNA repair, cerebellar degeneration, and immune dysfunction. Understanding the molecular mechanisms driving AT pathology is crucial for developing targeted therapies.

Methods: In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying AT pathology.

Objectives: To perform a descriptive analysis of a series of patients with recurrent macroscopic haematuria after a primary standard evaluation including computed tomography urography (CTU) and cystoscopy negative for urinary bladder cancer (UBC) and upper tract urothelial cancer (UTUC) and to identify potential factors associated with occurrence of recurrent macroscopic haematuria.

Methods: All patients older than 50 years who underwent urological investigation for macroscopic haematuria with both cystoscopy and CTU 2015-2017 were retrospectively reviewed. A descriptive analysis of the primary and later investigations for recurrent macroscopic haematuria was performed.

Article Synopsis
  • Dermatophytosis and dermatomycoses involve fungal infections of the skin, nails, and hair, commonly found in hot and humid regions like India, affecting 30-60% of the population.
  • The study focused on examining the prevalence, symptoms, and specific fungal species responsible for superficial mycoses (SM) in 250 patients over one year.
  • Findings revealed that the highest prevalence of SM occurred in the 11-20 age group (29%), with dermatophytes being the most common isolates, followed by non-dermatophytic moulds, highlighting their role in developing SM.

Objectives: Cerebral vasospasm is a known complication to aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage, which can lead to severe morbidity. Intra-arterial vasodilation therapy is widely used as a last resort treatment in patients with symptomatic refractory cerebral vasospasm but there is limited data about the outcome. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the neurological and radiological outcome in patients treated with intra-arterial nimodipine in relation to cerebral infarction, procedure-related complications and clinical outcome.

Intramural calcification in intestinal atresia is a rare type of intra-abdominal calcification. The exact etiology of intramural calcification remains obscure. A 1-day-old newborn male baby presented with signs of intestinal obstruction and was diagnosed to have jejunal atresia.

The Penobscot River Estuary is an important system for diadromous fish in the Northeast United States of American (USA), in part because it is home to the largest remnant population of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar, in the country. Little is known about the chemical and biological characteristics of seston in the Penobscot River Estuary. This study used estuarine transects to characterize the seston during the spring when river discharge is high and diadromous fish migration peaks in the Penobscot River Estuary.

Introduction: The Central Nervous System (CNS) lesions show considerable geographic and racial variations with respect to the incidence and the pattern of distribution of lesions. The ABO blood status is a readily accessible factor in genetic constitution of the patients. It has been shown to be associated with many diseases.

Effects of experimental exposure to Alexandrium fundyense, a Paralytic Shellfish Toxin (PST) producer known to affect bivalve physiological condition, upon eastern oysters, Crassostrea virginica with a variable natural infestation of the digenetic trematode Bucephalus sp. were determined. After a three-week exposure to cultured A.

Gastric teratomas are very rare tumors accounting for less than 1 % of all teratomas of infants and children. Little more than 100 cases of gastric teratomas are reported in the literature; out of which, very few of them are of immature variety. Complete excision of the gastric teratoma carries a good prognosis.

Informative biomarkers of tumor progression have been elusive. The interaction between hyaluronic acid (HA) and its binding proteins (HABP) plays a pivotal role during malignancy. In the present study, we have developed a monoclonal antibody (mAb, termed as H11B2C2 mAb) and showed that this mAb specifically reacts with overexpressed HABP from a wide variety of malignant tumors as compared with benign tumors.

Idiopathic scrotal calcinosis is a rare disorder characterised by multiple calcified nodules on the scrotal skin appearing in childhood or early adulthood. The exact aetiology is not known and calcium level in the blood remains normal in all individuals. Since only a few cases have been reported in the literature, a case is reported here with a review of literature.

Cryptococcus neoformans is ubiquitous encapsulated yeast found throughout the world. It predominantly causes significant infections in immunocompromised individuals, of which 80-90% occur in people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Disseminated cryptococcal infection is uncommon and almost always occurs in HIV-infected patients.

Cysticercosis, caused by cysticercus cellulosae, the larval form of Taenia solium, is potentially a dangerous systemic disease with variable clinical manifestations. The disease most commonly involves subcutaneous and muscle tissues, followed by the eye and brain. Cysticercosis can be diagnosed by various radiologic means or by serology, both of which, however, are not definitive.

Background: Thoracic lesions include a variety of benign and malignant lesions of lung, pleura, chest wall and mediastinum. Transthoracic fine needle aspiration cytology (TFNAC) is a well established technique for work up of thoracic lesions. Computed tomography (CT) has extended the use of FNAC, because it is accurate for localization, needle puncture and above all it permits evaluation of lesions less than 1 cm.

Juvenile hyaline fibromatosis is a rare, autosomal-recessive disease characterized by papular and nodular skin lesions, gingival hyperplasia, joint contractures and bone involvement in variable degrees. It is a connective tissue disorder with aberrant synthesis of glycosaminoglycans by fibroblasts. We report a 5-year-old female born of first-degree consanguineous marriage who presented with multiple, recurrent, painless, variable-sized nodules.

ETB receptor agonist, IRL-1620 (or SPI-1620) presently in US Phase 1 clinical trial, has been demonstrated to selectively and transiently increase tumor blood flow. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of IRL-1620 on radiation therapy in tumor bearing mice inoculated with Dalton's Lymphoma Ascites cells. Tumors were allowed to grow for 30 days to a size of 1.

Eastern oysters, Crassostrea virginica, naturally infected with the parasite Perkinsus marinus were subjected to a mechanical stress by centrifugation, and immune parameters, pathological conditions, and gene expression of selected transcripts were compared to uninfected controls. Immune parameters were assessed by flow cytometry, pathology and parasites by histotechnology and fluid thioglycollate assays, and gene expression by quantitative RT-PCR. Irrespective of mechanical stress, an increased number of hemocytes were observed in P.

Subcutaneous panniculitic-like T-cell lymphoma constitutes a distinctive clinicopathologic entity derived from cytotoxic T lymphocytes. A 25-year-old female presented with fever and skin lesions over the upper limb, lower limb and trunk since 2 years. On examination, there were multiple subcutaneous, tender, erythematous, poorly circumscribed indurated plaques and nodules on the upper limbs and lower limbs.
