Previous research states that adding propolis to powdered dental materials can increase the mechanical strength of the material. To analyze the differences and correlation of dentin elastic moduli and pH value after the exposure of calcium hydroxide, a mixture of propolis and calcium hydroxide, also a mixture of propylene glycol (PG), calcium hydroxide, and propolis. The dentine of bovine incisors was exposed into various compositions of a mixture of propolis, PG, and calcium hydroxide.

Inhibitory components from the buds of clove (Syzygium aromaticum) on melanin formation in B16 melanoma cells.

In the course to find a new whitening agent, we evaluated the methanol extract from bud of clove (Syzygium aromaticum) on melanin formation in B16 melanoma cells. Eugenol and eugenol acetate were isolated as the active compounds and showed melanin inhibition of 60% and 40% in B16 melanoma cell with less cytotoxicity at the concentration of 100 and 200 μg/mL, respectively. Furthermore, an essential oil prepared from the bud of clove, which contain eugenol and eugenol acetate as dominant components, showed melanin inhibition of 50% and 80% in B16 melanoma cells at the concentration of 100 and 200 μg/mL, respectively.

In order to work towards further reduction of vitamin A deficiency in central Java, Indonesia, a social marketing campaign promoting eggs and dark-green leafy vegetables was initiated in March 1996. Visualization and analysis of right heart blood flow patterns by contrast echocardiography.

Unlabelled: The clinical utility of visualization of blood flow patterns across the tricuspid valve (TV) and pulmonary valve (PV) by M-mode contrast echocardiography was studied in 38 patients with documented valvular or congenital heart disease and in 15 controls. Diastolic turbulence was observed in the TV outflow side in three patients with tricuspid stenosis. Turbulent flow was also detected during systole in patients with septal defects (atrial septal defect in four patients and ventricular septal defect in one patient) in the right ventricular outflow tract and in three atrial septal defect patients also in the inflow tract, presumably because of increased volume of flow.
