Nanocarriers for drugs have been investigated for decades, yet it is still challenging to achieve sustained release from nanomaterials due to drug loading inefficiency and burst release. In this study, we developed novel functional carbon dots (CDs) and investigated the therapeutic efficacy by studying the loading efficiency and release behavior of the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). CDs were successfully synthesized using a one-step pyrolysis method with varying concentrations of citric acid (CA) and thiourea (TU).

Ever since the emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, science has unraveled much knowledge on SARS-CoV-2 which has led to extraordinary and unprecedented progress in developing COVID-19 vaccines. Several adverse cutaneous reactions, ranging from more common local injection site reaction, neutrophilic and pustular drug reactions to flare-up of preexisting dermatoses, have been reported with currently available vaccines. We report a case series of 7 patients who developed herpes zoster (HZ) following the first dose of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 coronavirus vaccine (recombinant).

Silica-supported lanthanum (III) chloride (SiO-LaCl·7HO) was prepared and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscope, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis techniques. The catalytic activity of this silica-supported lanthanum (III) chloride was investigated in a one-pot three-component Kabachnik-Fields reaction. A library of new α-aminophosphonates was prepared employing various benzothiazole and thiadiazole amines, different substituted aldehydes and diethylphosphite under solvent-free conditions using conventional/microwave methods with good to excellent yields (85-97%).

A series of new urea and thiourea derivatives of 5-hydroxy tryptophan was designed and synthesized from 5-hydroxy tryptophan () by treating various isocyanates and isothiocyanates in the presence of triethylamine (TEA) as a base. The antioxidant activities of the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated by using different assays such as 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), hydrogen peroxide (HO) and superoxide. The results obtained from the studies revealed that the compounds , , , and exhibited the significant high content of antioxidant activity.

The present study evaluates the protective effects of an antioxidant-rich extract of (NAOE) in abnormalities associated with the metabolic syndrome (MetS) in rats. HPTLC of NAOE revealed the presence of 13 total antioxidants, 14 flavonoids, and 10 phenolic acids. Rats administered with fructose (20% /) in drinking water for 45 days to induce abnormalities of MetS received NAOE (200 and 400 mg/kg, po), the standard drug gemfibrozil (60 mg/kg, po), aerobic exercise (AE), and a combination of NAOE 400 mg/kg and AE (NAOEAE) daily for 45 days.

Epithelioma adenoides cysticum or multiple trichoepitheliomas are rare benign hamartomas arising from the hair germ. A 35-year-old female presented with multiple skin-colored firm papules and nodules mainly affecting the central face, scalp, and external ear canal since the age of 9 years. The lesions gradually increased with age.

Paraganglioma-like dermal melanocytic tumor (PDMT) is a rare subtype of benign dermal melanocytic tumor, first described in 2004. Its histopathologic features resemble those of paraganglioma, showing presence of a distinctive partitioning of the tumor into small and large packets, nests, or short cords by delicate fibrous septa (zellballen pattern). But the immunostaining characteristics are those of melanocytic lesions, as PDMT express S-100, melan A, HMB 45 and lack pancytokeratin markers.

Cu(II) complexes [Cu(mqt)(B)H2O]ClO4(1-3) of 2-thiol 4-methylquinoline and phenanthroline bases (B), viz 1,10-phenanthroline (phen in 1), Dipyrido[3,2-d:2',3'-f]quinoxaline (dpq in 2) and Dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine (dppz in 3) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, magnetic moment values, EPR spectra and conductivity measurements. The spectral data reveal that all the complexes exhibit square-pyramidal geometry. The DNA-binding behaviors of the three complexes were investigated by absorption spectra, viscosity measurements and thermal denaturation studies.
