Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of regenerative pulpotomy versus devitalising or preservative pulpotomy for treating vital pulp exposure in primary teeth.
  • A thorough data search was conducted across multiple databases, with studies assessed for quality using the Cochrane Collaboration Tool and Minors Checklist, followed by a meta-analysis.
  • The findings suggested that MTA is a more effective treatment option than FC and FS, showing a lower risk of failure, while BD also showed promising results as a pulpotomy medicament.

Background: Apexification is a procedure that promotes apical closure by forming mineralized tissue in the apex region of a nonvital young permanent tooth. Calcium silicate-based cement like Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine are commonly employed as apical barriers to facilitate this process. Microleakage, defined as the leakage along the junction between the canal wall and filling material, is a crucial aspect to assess in MTA and Biodentine applications as apical barriers, as it directly impacts the prevention of bacterial seepage and maintenance of structural integrity.

Article Synopsis
  • Dental caries is a preventable global health issue, and this umbrella review assessed the effectiveness of AI models in diagnosing and detecting it by synthesizing systematic reviews.
  • A thorough search of multiple databases identified 1249 entries, ultimately including 7 studies that highlighted AI algorithms like multilayer perceptron, SVM, and CNNs for various diagnostic tasks using different imaging modalities.
  • CNNs showed significant accuracy in caries detection and diagnosis, but the review underscores the importance of ethical considerations and careful adoption for successful integration into dental practice.
