Sex chromosomes are a fundamental aspect of sex-biased biology, but the extent to which homologous X-Y gene pairs ('the gametologs') contribute to sex-biased phenotypes remains hotly debated. Although these genes tend to exhibit large sex differences in expression throughout the body (XX females can express both X members, and XY males can express one X and one Y member), there is conflicting evidence regarding the degree of functional divergence between the X and Y members. Here we develop and apply co-expression fingerprint analysis to characterize functional divergence between the X and Y members of 17 gametolog gene pairs across >40 human tissues.

A microwave-strengthened supramolecular adhesive by introducing maleic acid amide bonds into the cross-linked networks of catechol-based monomers and iron oxide nanoparticles is reported. Under microwave irradiation, the supramolecular adhesive can be rapidly heated up, causing the transformation from maleic acid amide bonds to maleimide bonds and thus the increase of its cohesive strength. Non-precious transition metal-based electrocatalysts with high activities are promising candidates for substituting Pt- or Ru-based electrocatalysts in hydrogen evolution. In this study, we propose core-shell engineering to combine the amorphous NiCoP and crystalline CoP (a-NiCoP/CoP@NF), which requires an ultra-low overpotential of only 26 mV to achieve the benchmark current density of 10 mA cm. Furthermore, it achieves an industrial-level hydrogen evolution current density of 500 mA cm with excellent stability.

Submicron ultrasound contrast agents hold great potential to extend the bubble-mediated theranostics beyond the vasculature, but their acoustic response and the interaction effects between them remain poorly understood. This study set out to numerically examine the interaction effects on the subharmonic oscillations of nanobubbles and the resultant acoustic emissions under subharmonic resonance conditions.
