Background: Lip and oral cavity cancer is leading cause of cancer mortality among Indian men. This study evaluated diagnostic accuracy of mobile health (mHealth) enabled screening for early detection of oral premalignant lesions or oral cancer (OPML/OC). It also described epidemiology of tobacco and other substance use and associated oral lesions in rural northern India.

This study addresses this gap by investigating the prevalence and patterns of substance use, with a focus on young emerging adults (18-29 years) within a high-risk cohort for oral cancer in Varanasi, India.

Methods: The study involved a cross-sectional analysis of baseline data from 10,101 participants within a high-risk cohort in rural settings of the Varanasi district between December 2020-June 2023.

Aims: To evaluate the diagnosis and imaging of patients with mitral regurgitation (MR) and the management in routine clinical practice across Europe, the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging Scientific Initiatives Committee performed a survey across European centres. In particular, the routine use of echocardiography, advanced imaging modalities, heart valve clinics, and heart valve teams was explored.

Methods And Results: A total of 61 responders, mainly from tertiary centres or university hospitals, from 26 different countries responded to the survey, which consisted of 22 questions.

Introduction: An unusual nasopharyngeal foreign body in a very young child with no clinical symptoms is a rare case presentation.

Case Report: A nine-month-old child presented with a suspected history of foreign body ingestion without any clue to the parents about the nature of the foreign body. X-ray of the nasopharynx revealed a sharp unusual metallic "Louis Vuitton" shoe logo that the child had accidentally inserted into the nasopharynx via the oral cavity while playing.

Chronic wounds, such as burns and diabetic foot ulcers, pose significant challenges to global healthcare systems due to prolonged hospitalization and increased costs attributed to susceptibility to bacterial infections. The conventional use of antibiotic-loaded and metal-impregnated dressings exacerbates concerns related to multidrug resistance and skin argyrosis. In response to these challenges, our research introduces a unique approach utilizing antibiotic-free smart hydrogel wound dressings with integrated infection eradication and diagnostic capabilities.

Diet is an important pathway for microplastic exposure. This study examined distinct edible seaweed products sold at ethnic food stores in Mexico for microplastic contamination, as well as the exposure of the Asian ethnic minority and local population to microplastics. Microplastics were extracted from seaweed samples using a wet oxide digestion with hydrogen peroxide followed by zinc chloride density separation.

The microplastisphere is a dense consortium of metabolically active microorganisms that develops on the surface of microplastics. Since the discovery that it harbors antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), there has been a quest to decipher the relationship between ARG occurrences and selective enrichment with plastic types, which is important to understand their fate in diverse environmental settings. Nonetheless, it remains a neglected topic, and this developing field of microplastics research could benefit from a comprehensive review to acquire a deeper understanding of the most recent advances and drive scientific progress.

Role of verbal autopsy in cancer registration: A mixed-methods study from the population-based cancer registry of Northern India.

Objectives: To describe utilisation of verbal autopsy as one of the data collection approaches in cancer registration in an Indian setting. We aimed to estimate the proportion and epidemiological characteristics of malignancies identified by the Varanasi population-based cancer registry (PBCR) using verbal autopsy between 2017 and 2019 and to develop a thematic network for implementing verbal autopsy.
