Patients And Methods: Six (22 +/- 2 yrs) volunteers were involved in the study. We performed T1 relaxation time measurements in a particular slice of the brain at 1T and 3T.
Objective: To measure the incidence and risk factors of AIDS-defining opportunistic illnesses (AOIs) in the pre-highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) (1993-1995), early-HAART (1996-2000), and late-HAART (2001-2008) periods.
Design: Prospective cohort analysis of AIDS surveillance data.
Methods: Individuals living with, or diagnosed with AIDS from 1993 through 2008 were included.
Purpose: The aim of this article was to report the clinical presentation, radiography, culture results, treatment modalities, and outcomes of periocular abscesses associated with brow epilation.
Methods: This was a retrospective case series including 26 patients referred for periocular abscess following brow epilation.
Results: Twenty-six female patients with a median age of 20.
Pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP) is a bioactive peptide with diverse effects in the nervous system. Methods: Diffusion parameters were measured using mono-exponential (0-1000 s/mm(2)) and bi-exponential (0-5000 s/mm(2)) approaches from 14 relapsing-remitting subtype of MS patients and 14 age- and sex-matched controls after acquiring diffusion-weighted images on a 3T MRI system. The results were analyzed using parametric or nonparametric tests and multiple linear regression models.
The background of feeding associated and metabolic diseases is not sufficiently understood yet. Since gustatory alterations may be of particular significance in the above illnesses, in the present experiments, cerebral activation was detected by fMRI in twelve obese patients and twelve, age and gender matched healthy subjects. Using brain and liver tissue homogenates from rats and humans, and conventional incubation conditions for kynurenine aminotransferases, we show here that kynurenic acid production from d-kynurenine, like the more efficient kynurenic acid synthesis from l-kynurenine, is blocked by the aminotransferase inhibitor amino-oxyacetic acid.

During the Last Glacial Period, Neandertals at Amud Cave lived under wetter conditions than those in the region today. Neither faunal species ate arid-adapted C(4) plants or drought-stressed C(3) plants.
