Silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) has recently regained attention in the field of Li-ion batteries, owing to its effectiveness as a host matrix for nanoscale anode materials alloying with Li. The SiOC matrix, itself providing a high Li-ion storage capacity of 600 mA h g-1, assists in buffering volumetric changes upon lithiation and largely suppresses the formation of an unstable solid-electrolyte interface. Herein, we present the synthesis of homogeneously embedded Sb nanoparticles in a SiOC matrix with the size of 5-40 nm via the pyrolysis of a preceramic polymer.

Blood fruit () has important bioactive compounds, antioxidant properties and some essential minerals, which plays an essential part in human nutrition and traditional medicine for treating arthritis, jaundice, hypertension, cancer, etc. This work was conducted to optimize the parameters of spray drying process for production of blood fruit juice powder and its quality was compared with freeze dried and tray dried powder. It was observed that powder produced by spray drying techniques resulted in higher yield, solubility and better retention of resveratrol content and was considered to be of superior quality, having a higher degree of reconstitution ratio as compared to powders produced by freeze and tray drying techniques.

A simple, colorimetric and visual method is described for the determination of cysteamine (CA) using polyvinylpyrrolidone-stabilized silver nanoparticles (PVP-AgNPs) as a colorimetric probe. The sensing method was based on the aggregation of PVP-AgNPs that led to the changes in the color and absorption profile of the probe. The aggregation of PVP-AgNPs in the presence of CA was evidenced by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), zeta and dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements.

A 72-year-old man, who is known with a case of metastatic carcinoma of the breast, was referred for F-PMSA 1007 PET/CT with clinical suspicion of synchronous prostate cancer. F-PSMA 1007 PET/CT scan detected no abnormal tracer concentrating lesion in the prostate gland; however, abnormal tracer concentration was noted in soft tissue lesions in left breast, metastatic lymph nodes, and skeletal lesions. Compared with F-FDG PET/CT, more bone lesions were detected on F-PSMA 1007 imaging.

In bacterial system, direct conversion of xylose to xylonic acid is mediated through NAD-dependent xylose dehydrogenase (xylB) and xylonolactonase (xylC) genes. Heterologous expression of these genes from Caulobacter crescentus into recombinant Corynebacterium glutamicum ATCC 13032 and C. glutamicum ATCC 31831 (with an innate pentose transporter, araE) resulted in an efficient bioconversion process to produce xylonic acid from xylose.

A 60-year-old man with suspected right renal cell carcinoma underwent F-FDG PET/CT and F prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) 1007 PET/CT scan. Compared with the F-FDG PET/CT scan, F-PSMA 1007 PET/CT showed intense tracer concentration in the primary tumor in the right kidney and intense tracer concentration consistently in all lung nodules. Unlike noted in previous pilot studies with Ga-PSMA, we observed that the primary renal tumor also showed intense tracer avidity with F-PSMA 1007.

A low-cost Cr(III)-incorporated Zr(IV) bimetallic oxide (CZ) was synthesized by simple chemical precipitation method for removal of fluoride from contaminated water. Background: This study determined the effect of Biochanin A (BCA) on isoproterenol (ISO) induced Myocardial Infarction (MI) in male Wistar rats.

Methods: Animals (weighing 150-180 g) were divided into four groups, with six animals in each group and pretreated with BCA (10mg/kg Body Weight [BW]) and ɑ-tocopherol (60mg/kg BW) for 30 days; and ISO (20mg/kg BW) was administrated subcutaneously on the 31st and 32nd day.

Results: ISO-induced MI rats demonstrated the significant elevation of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine kinase-MB and cardiac troponin; however, concomitant pretreatment with BCA protected the rats from cardiotoxicity caused by ISO.
