Indwelling intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUDs) have surfaces that facilitate the attachment of spp., creating a suitable environment for biofilm formation. Due to this, vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is frequently linked to IUD usage, necessitating the prompt removal of these devices for effective treatment.

In this study, ZnO, CdS, ZnO/CdS, and ZnO/CdS/Co nanostructures were successfully synthesized using a simple chemical precipitation method. The formation of these nanostructures was confirmed through x-ray diffraction (XRD), but their morphological properties were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Their optical properties were investigated using UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL).

Energy scarcity and environmental pollution have prompted research in hydrogen generation from solar to develop clean energy through highly efficient, effective, and long-lasting photocatalytic systems. Designing a catalyst with robust stability and an effective carrier separation rate was achieved through heterostructure assembly, but certain functionalities must be explored. In this paper we designed a ternary heterostructure assembly of CdS nanospheres wrapped with hierarchical shell walls of layered MXene-tagged MoS nanoflakes, forming intimate interfaces through an in-situ growth process.

Introduction: Costoclavicular brachial plexus block has become a procedure of choice for surgical anaesthesia or analgesia in upper limb surgery. The technique is not standardised yet, and two approaches are currently employed: the medial and lateral approach. Our study aims to compare the two approaches in terms of performance time and patient-specific clinical outcomes.

Eucalyptus oil consumption is well known to cause adverse effects on central nervous system like seizures, ataxia and unconsciousness. No antidote is available and treatment is largely supportive. We report a case of rhabdomyolysis with pigment cast nephropathy and acute kidney injury in a young female following eucalyptus oil consumption and its successful management.

Natural fractures and laminae are well-developed in continental shale, which greatly affects the fracture propagation and failure mode. Based on the natural fractures and laminae developed in the outcrops of Triassic continental shale from the southern Ordos Basin, China, four different types of shale models are constructed in this research. The CASRock software V1.

Aims: Over the past two decades, significant progress has been made in the development of quality indicators (QIs) within the field of radiotherapy (RT). However, most of the literature has predominantly focused on process and outcome-related QIs, with limited attention given to structural QIs. This review aims to address this gap by providing insights into structural QIs in RT and examining the complexities and considerations involved in establishing universal standards for these indicators across RT facilities globally.

Epinecidin-1 (epi-1), an antimicrobial peptide first identified in marine grouper fish, has multifunctional bioactivities. The present study aims to improve its therapeutic potential via structural modifications that could enhance its antimicrobial activity and stability. To achieve it, we replaced glycine and the first histidine in the parent epi-1 with lysine, which resulted in a peptide with a repeating KXXK motif and improved physiochemical properties related to antimicrobial activity.

Welded tuffs have a wide range of welding degrees and show significant variability in mechanical behavior. However, the detailed influence of welding degree on the meso-mechanical behavior of welded tuffs remains unclear. Based on petrographic and pore-structure analysis, we conducted a series of meso-mechanical experiments on weakly to strongly welded tuffs by utilizing a mesoscale real-time loading-observation-acquisition system.

Article Synopsis
  • - The survey aimed to assess parents' attitudes, knowledge, and perceptions regarding myofunctional appliances in Chennai through a web-based questionnaire involving 500 participants.
  • - Results revealed that a significant majority (79.8%) of parents recognize skeletal problems, with about 70% willing to recommend myofunctional treatments and 69% acknowledging their importance for corrections.
  • - The study concluded that while most parents are informed about functional appliances and skeletal issues, there is a need for increased awareness to properly diagnose these problems at the right age.

In a modern haematology laboratory, the complete and differential counts of blood are performed using complex haematology auto analyzers. In order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results, various regulatory authorities have prescribed the use of stabilized blood controls. The major pitfalls of these blood controls are their short shelf life.
