Background And Objectives: Treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) is very challenging with poor outcome. In this situation, radiotherapy has become an alternative treatment modality, more precisely due to advances in radiation techniques. The goal of our study is to do analysis of these patients treated with rapid arc image-guided technology (RA-IGRT) at our institution.

Prevalence of psychotic symptoms and their impact on course and outcome of patients with bipolar disorder: Findings from the Bipolar Disorder Course and Outcome study from India (BiD-CoIN study).

Aim: Most of the available data on the prevalence and impact of psychotic symptoms on the course of bipolar disorder (BD) is from Western countries. We aimed to study the prevalence of at least one psychotic episode in the lifetime in patients with BD and its association with the long-term course and outcome.

Methodology: 773 patients recruited as part of the Bipolar Disorder Course and Outcome study from India (BiD-CoIN study) were divided into 2 groups, based on the presence or absence of at least one psychotic episode in the lifetime.

Objective: We assessed the effect of the forward projected model-based reconstruction technique (FIRST) on lesion detection of routine abdomen CT at <1 mSv.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-seven adult patients gave written informed consent for acquisition of low-dose CT (LDCT) immediately after their clinically-indicated, standard of care dose (SDCT), routine abdomen CT on a 640-slice MDCT (Aquillion One, Canon Medical System). In the continuous search for new antiinflammatory agents from natural products, dichloromethane (DCM), ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and methanol (MeOH) extracts of Ipomea fistulosa leaves were evaluated for inhibition of production of nitric oxide (NO), interleukin 1beta (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated J774A.1 cells. Among the tested extracts, the ethyl acetate (EtOAc) extract was found to be most active and activity based fractionation of this extract by column chromatography led to the identification of seven compounds for the first time from this plant.

Prosthodontic management of a completely edentulous patient with microstomia: a case report.

Patients with microstomia who need to wear removable dental prosthesis often face difficulty of being unable to insert or remove the prosthesis because of restricted opening of the oral cavity. Prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with microstomia presents difficulties in all the clinical steps. In such patients, it is difficult to make impressions and fabricate dentures using conventional method.

We developed an ELISA-based method for rapid optimization of various tissue processing parameters in immunogold labeling for electron microscopy. The effects of aldehyde fixation, tannic acid, postfixation, dehydration, temperature, and antigen retrieval on antibody binding activity of Vitreoscilla hemoglobin (VHb) expressed in E. coli cells were assayed by ELISA and the results confirmed by quantitative immunogold labeling transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
