Methods: This prospective, multicenter, double-blinded study included 190 male patients scheduled for urethral catheterization. Patients were randomly allocated into four groups: Group A: the catheter was lubricated with paraffin; Group B: the catheter was lubricated with compound lidocaine gel; Group C: the pump continuously infusing with sterilized water; Group D: the pump continuously infusing with 2% lidocaine.

The gut-brain axis mediates bidirectional signaling between the intestine and the nervous system and is critical for organism-wide homeostasis. Here, we report the identification of a peptidergic endocrine circuit in which bidirectional signaling between neurons and the intestine potentiates the activation of the antioxidant response in in the intestine. We identify an FMRF-amide-like peptide, FLP-2, whose release from the intestine is necessary and sufficient to activate the intestinal oxidative stress response by promoting the release of the antioxidant FLP-1 neuropeptide from neurons.

In this study, the spatial distribution characteristics of easily oxidizable organic carbon (EOC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), particulate organic carbon (POC), mineral-bound organic carbon (MAOC), and their seasonal variations in the surface soil (0-10 cm) were studied in different vegetation zones of the arbor forest (at the upper position), the mixed forest of arbor and shrub (at the middle position), and the waterfront vegetation (at the bottom position) in the ecological embankment of Duliujian River, Tianjin, China. The spatial distribution characteristics of soil DOM components and their seasonal changes were also analyzed by combining UV-visible spectroscopy and 3D fluorescence spectroscopy.

Unlike systems with open binding sites, our model facilitates sequential ion recognition state transitions, enabled by the deliberate design of the tunnel.
