Over the last two decades, severe acute malnutrition (SAM) has been increasing in India despite favourable national-level economic growth. The latest round of the National Family Health Survey 5 (NFHS-5) results was released, allowing us to assess changes in the malnutrition trends. Analysis of the previous rounds of the NFHS (NFHS-4) has already shown disturbing levels of wasting, often co-occurring with other forms of anthropometric failures.

Since its emergence in Wuhan, China, in late 2019, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes COVID-19, has spread to nearly all countries of the world in only a few months. However, in different countries, the COVID-19 epidemic takes variable shapes and forms in how it affects communities.

Affirmative action, minorities, and public services in India: Charting a future research and practice agenda.

The National Health Policy in India mentions equity as a key policy principle and emphasises the role of affirmative action in achieving health equity for a range of excluded groups. We conducted a scoping review of literature and three multi-stakeholder workshops to better understand the available evidence on the impact of affirmative action policies in enhancing the inclusion of ethnic and religious minorities in health, education and governance in India. We consider these public services an important mechanism to enhance the social inclusion of many excluded groups.

Efficacy of Platelet Rich Fibrin versus chitosan as a hemostatic agent following dental extraction in patients on antiplatelet therapy.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness of Platelet Rich Fibrin gel and Chitosan gel dressing in providing hemostasis in patients receiving Oral Antiplatelet Therapy and also to evaluate their surgical healing outcome following dental extractions.

Methodology: A total of 60 patients under Oral Antiplatelet Therapy indicated for tooth extraction were included for treatment in the study without altering the oral antiplatelet regimens. Patients were allocated equally in two groups; Group A: where PRF gel was packed into the extraction socket, while Group B: Chitosan hydrogel was packed.

The incidence of tuberculosis is a frequent finding especially in developing countries owing to a significant population of the people belonging to the lower socioeconomic strata with poor hygiene and nutrition. Tubercular involvement of the paranasal sinuses is usually asymptomatic until it reaches an advanced state and when it involves the maxillary sinus, this initial period of quiescence often mimics the clinical presentation of a chronic sinus infection, which often leads to a diagnostic dilemma. Symptoms commonly reported are chronic sinusitis and rhinorrhea, both of which being nonspecific in nature leading to a quandary.
