The reaction of a hydrated cobalt(II) perchlorate salt with the rigid tripodal ligand, tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl) phosphine oxide, (O)P(3,5-DMPz)3, results in selective in situ hydrolysis of a P‒N bond affording a neutral mononuclear Co(II) complex, [Co{(O)P(O)(3,5-DMP)2}2] (1Co(II)). The X-ray crystal structure of 1Co(II) shows that it is formed by the coordination of two N2O-tripodal (O)P(O)(3,5-DMPz)2 ligands, leading to a CoIIN4O2 coordination sphere with an elongated pseudo-trigonal antiprismatic geometry. The analysis of the dc magnetic data revealed that this compound shows a strong easy-axis magnetic anisotropy with D = ‒45.

This study was conducted on 12 adult pigs of a local mixed breed to examine the histology, histochemistry and ultrastructure of the choroid and retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE). The tissues were fixed in Davidson's Fluid for light microscopy and Karnovsky's fluid for electron microscopy. Due to the physiological, anatomical and metabolic similarities between pigs and humans, pigs are a suitable animal model for various ophthalmic studies.

Controlling the correlations and electronic reconstruction at the interface of transition metal oxide heterostructures provides a new pathway for tuning their unique physical properties. Here, we investigate the effects of interfacial nonstoichiometry and vertical phase separation on the magnetic properties and proximity-induced magnetism of epitaxial LaSrMnO (LSMO)/SrTiO(001) oxide heterostructures. We also reinvestigate the recently observed inverse hysteresis behavior reported for this system, which we find emanates from the remanent field of the superconducting solenoid and not from antiferromagnetic intra-layer exchange coupling in low coercivity LSMO thin films.

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanocomposite films, incorporating HAP nanoparticles as filler within a PVDF matrix, were successfully synthesized by solution casting method. Increasing the HAP concentration in the nanocomposite significantly enhances its electroactive properties, with synergistic effects on surface, electrical and biological characteristics are investigated comprehensively. Improvements in topographical and mechanical parameters reveal the nanocomposite films for biomimetic suitability.

We present a rare case of a 40-year-old male who experienced a seizure-like episode, later diagnosed as torsades de pointes (TDP), following an R-on-T phenomenon feature on ECG. This case underscores the importance of considering cardiac arrhythmias in the differential diagnosis of atypical seizure presentations. The patient underwent successful treatment with antiarrhythmics and coronary stenting for underlying coronary artery stenosis, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to managing such complex cases.

A library of 30 novel quinazolinone-dihydropyrimidinone derivatives was synthesized employing a diversity-oriented approach for the identification of potential anti-diabetic therapeutic lead. In vitro evaluation revealed that seven compounds (5d, 5e, 5i, 5j, 5l, 5m and 5s) significantly enhanced the rate of GLUT4 translocation to the cell surface in L6-GLUT4myc myotubes. Out of these, compound, 5m exhibited promising potency to stimulate GLUT4 translocation in skeletal muscle cells via activating AMPK-dependent pathway, but independent to PI-3-K/AKT signaling.

Thermoelectric properties of conducting polymers typically suffer from molecular chain disordering, as charge transport is predominantly controlled by morphology. This is especially more problematic when counterions are introduced to tune the carrier concentration for optimal thermoelectric performance, which disturbs the morphology further. In this work, we introduce a new avenue for enhancing thermoelectric properties without needing to regulate the morphology, namely, by controlling the coulombic interaction between polarons and counterions.

Understanding the change in plant-associated microbial diversity and secondary metabolite biosynthesis in medicinal plants due to their cultivation in non-natural habitat (NNH) is important to maintain their therapeutic importance. Here, the bacterial endomicrobiome of Podophyllum hexandrum plants of natural habitat (NH; Kardang and Triloknath locations) and NNH (Palampur location) was identified and its association with the biosynthesis of podophyllotoxin (PTOX) was revealed. Rhizomes (source of PTOX) of plants of NH had highest endophytic bacterial diversity compared to NNH-plants.

Introduction: Previous consensus-based long COVID research has focused on establishing research priorities, developing clinical definitions, core outcomes and a list of recommendations of patient-reported outcome measures that can be used to assess and characterise long COVID. Complementing and extending this work, the proposed study will bring together diverse knowledge users to prioritise concepts of care, quality of life and symptoms to inform a national patient registry on long COVID.

This case report describes the diagnosis, treatment, and progression of a 50-year-old male patient diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic leiomyosarcoma with metastases to the liver, lungs, and brain, representing the only case involving both the pancreas and brain documented in the hospital registry with a histopathological diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma. The patient initially presented with chronic abdominal pain, constipation, and weight loss, and subsequent CT scans revealed a large pancreatic mass with metastases to the liver, lungs, and brain. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma, and the patient underwent eight cycles of palliative chemotherapy with cisplatin and docetaxel, along with palliative radiotherapy targeting the brain metastases.
