Preclinical and/or clinical studies have demonstrated the potential of Ivermectin (IVM) for malaria control. In order to improve its antiplasmodial activity and build on previous knowledge, we have designed a third generation of hybrid molecules in which selected pharmacophores were appended to the IVM macrolide, while retaining one or both sugar moieties at the C-13 position. Moreover, we synthesized IVM hybrids that contain structural features of potent IVM metabolites.

Antimicrobial resistances (AMR) present a particularly challenging cross-sectoral policy problem, affecting human and animal health as well as the environment. Compared to the actual problem pressure, the public awareness for AMR is comparatively low and the issue has not been high on the political agenda in most. Given the rising problem pressure, we aim to find out as to what degree and under which conditions political parties bring AMR on the political agenda.

Aims: To investigate personality functioning and sense of self in individuals at ultra-high risk (UHR) for psychosis and with first-episode psychosis (FEP) in comparison with a clinical control group of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and healthy controls.

Method: In a cross-sectional design, we investigated personality functioning (Structured Interview of Personality Organization, STIPO; Level of Personality Functioning Scale, LPFS) and disturbances of the basic self (Examination of Anomalous Self-Experience, EASE) in 107 participants, comprising 24 individuals at UHR, 29 individuals with FEP, 27 individuals with BPD and 27 healthy controls.

Lake systems respond physically, chemically, and biologically to hydro-climatic change and variability, and these responses are documented in the sediments. Individual proxies and lacustrine environments may respond to climate variations in a nonlinear way, making it difficult to determine the direction and extent of a climatic shift. Here we investigate the response of lake ecosystem to climatic and environmental changes using a suite of paleo-proxies including ostracods, chironomids, and n-alkanes distribution from paleolake 'Gayal el Bazal (Yemen)'.

Quinoline-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one Hybrids: Synthesis, Biological Activity, and Mechanistic Studies.

A novel class of quinoline-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one (DHPM) hybrids was synthesized and in vitro antiplasmodial activity was evaluated against chloroquine sensitive (D10) and chloroquine resistant (Dd2) strains of Plasmodium falciparum, the human malaria parasite. The antiplasmodial activity was compared to previously reported DHPM based molecular hybrids. Originally a psychodynamic concept, the therapeutic relationship (also therapeutic alliance, helping alliance or simply alliance) has become a pan-theoretical model for the professional relationship between a therapist and his or her client (Kivlighan, 1995). With the development of this concept in the latter half of the 20th century, psychotherapeutic theory and practice saw a paradigm shift away from strict adherence to technique with little room for responsive, individual behavior from the therapist and toward the "authentic" human relationship at the core of therapy. This meant that more consideration was given to the idea of mutual influence from patient and therapist to the success of therapy (Safran & Muran, 2006).
