Article Synopsis
  • Effective oral hygiene is essential for preventing dental issues in adolescents, and traditional education methods often don't engage this age group adequately.
  • The study tested a new approach called Jigsaw Puzzle-assisted Visual Reinforcement (JPVR) against conventional methods to see which was more effective in improving toothbrushing knowledge and practices.
  • Results showed that adolescents who used the JPVR technique had significantly better knowledge, practices, and healthier clinical indicators after three months compared to those who received traditional education or video demonstrations.

Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the common causes of anovulatory infertility among women in the reproductive age group. Women with PCOS and obesity often have difficulty in conceiving, and they are more prone for developing metabolic syndrome. Lifestyle modification plays a key role in women with PCOS, who are overweight or obese and is recommended as a first line management option.

Introduction Fractal analysis has proved to be a salient tool to quantitatively assess the qualitative changes in the bone trabeculae of patients with hyperparathyroidism, osteoporosis, and various temporomandibular disorders, including osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis of temporomandibular joint (TMJ), in several previous studies. The purpose of this study was to use fractal analysis to assess alterations in the trabecular pattern of the mandibular condyle in patients with degenerative temporomandibular disorders. Materials and methods This study comprised 98 subjects with 49 subjects in the study group and 49 subjects in the control group, aged 18-50 years.

Article Synopsis
  • Dental education in India mainly uses traditional lecture-based learning, which may limit student engagement, prompting the need for innovative methods like spaced repetition learning (SRL) to improve long-term knowledge retention.
  • A study involving 90 dental students compared the effectiveness of SRL through a mobile flashcard app to traditional lectures; results showed that the SRL group had significantly better knowledge retention after one and three months.
  • The findings suggest that SRL is more effective than traditional learning and that students had a positive perception of this method, indicating it should be incorporated into dental curricula to enhance learning outcomes.

Background:  The National Dental Commission Bill of 2023 introduced the National Exit Test (NExT) as a common final examination for all dental graduates in India, granting them the license to practice. This study evaluated dental undergraduates' awareness and perceptions of the newly proposed NExT.

Methods:  A self-administered questionnaire in English comprising 23 close-ended questions was used to assess the awareness and perception of the students.

Context: The molecular structure of the compound, spectroscopic investigations (FT-IR, FT-Raman, and NMR), and the frontier energy level analysis of 5-hydroxy-3,6,7,8-tetramethoxyflavone (5HTMF) were all examined using density functional theory (DFT) methods. Comparisons were made between predicted DFT theoretical vibrational wavenumbers and observed data. The chemical reactivity of 5HTMF was studied using DFT/PBEPBE approach that included frontier orbital energies, optical characteristics, and chemical descriptors.

Background: The duration of cryopreservation of embryos and its effect on the subsequent pregnancy outcomes, when they have been frozen for a longer duration remains a matter of concern. There is a continuous debate among studies comparing different durations of embryo cryopreservation as the results are contradictory.

Aims: This study aims to find out if long-term cryopreservation of embryos has any effect on pregnancy and perinatal outcomes.

In this paper, we present new aspects of Sm -doped pure Li CaSiO as a suitable candidate for white light emitting diode (WLED) applications. The samples were mainly prepared using a conventional modified solid-state synthesis technique. The structural studies were done using X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement.

Ever since the advent of Smartphones, Smartphone applications (SAs) are revolutionizing the contemporary medicine. Smartphone application which was created in view of swift communications among the general public has now intruded the medical fraternity. But the ethics for using these applications to transfer patients' medical records through SA is bewildering among the medical professionals (MPs).

Cells of the innate and adaptive immune system are key factors in the progression of atherosclerotic plaque, leading to plaque instability and rupture, potentially resulting in acute atherothrombotic events such as coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease and peripheral arterial disease. Here, we describe the cloning, expression, purification, and immunoreactivity assessment of a recombinant single-chain variable fragment (scFv) derived from a human anti-αIIbβ3 antibody (HuAb) selected to target atheromatous lesions for the presence of platelets. Indeed, platelets within atheroma plaques have been shown to play a role in inflammation, in platelet-leucocyte aggregates and in thrombi formation and might thus be considered relevant biomarkers of atherosclerotic progression.

Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm accounts for only 1% of congenital cardiac anomalies. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm can cause aortic insufficiency, coronary artery flow compromise, cardiac arrhythmia, or aneurysm rupture. Three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (3DTEE) represents an adjunctive tool to demonstrate the ruptured sinus of Valsalva with better delineation.

Background And Aims: Midazolam-fentanyl (MDZ:FEN) combination has been routinely used for intravenous sedation in ophthalmic surgeries. Dexmedetomidine (DEX), a recent α2 adrenoreceptor agonist indicated for sedation for ophthalmic use at a loading dose of 0.5 μg/kg over 10 min, can cause deeper plane of sedation and surgeon dissatisfaction.

Background: Basmati rice, originated in the foothills of Himalayas, commands a premium price in the domestic and international markets on account of its unique quality traits. The complex genetic nature of unique traits of Basmati as well as tedious screening methodologies involved in quality testing have been serious constraints to breeding quality Basmati. In the present study, we made an attempt to identify the genomic regions governing unique traits of Basmati rice.

The mononuclear title complex, [Mo(C9H9NO2)O2(H2O)], contains an Mo(VI) atom in a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere defined by an Mo=O and an Mo-(OH2) bond to the axial ligands and two Mo-O bonds to phenolate and alcoholate O atoms, another Mo=O bond and one Mo-N bond to the imino N atom in the equatorial plane. The five-membered metalla-ring shows an envelope conformation. In the crystal, individual mol-ecules are connected into a layered arrangement parallel to (100) by means of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecule as a donor group and the O atoms of neighbouring complexes as acceptor atoms.

Context: The scope of Bitemarks in forensic dentistry is widening as they help the forensic expert in identifying the perpetuator in medicolegal cases. The greatest challenge in Bitemarks analysis is the time-dependent changes produced in Bitemark patterns on various substrates at the scene of the crime.

Aims: To analyze the time-dependent changes in Bitemarks on Styrofoam sheets.

The Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and Fourier transform Raman (FT-Raman) spectra of 2-amino-5-bromo-6-methyl-4-pyrimidinol (ABrMP) were recorded in the region 4000-400 and 3500-100 cm(-1), respectively. The conformational stability, geometrical structure, vibrational frequencies, infrared intensities and Raman activities were carried out by DFT (B3LYP and LSDA) methods with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The calculated results show good agreement with observed spectra.

The molecular structure, geometry optimization, vibrational frequencies of organic dye sensitizer 2,6-Diamino-4-chloropyrimidine (DACP) were studied based on Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) using B3LYP methods with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectrum was investigated by time dependent DFT (TD-DFT). Features of the electronic absorption spectrum in the UV-Visible regions were assigned based on TD-DFT calculation.
