Hyaluronic acid on collagen membranes: An experimental study in rats.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of hyaluronic acid (HA) in the structure and degradation patterns of BioGide and OsseoGuard™ collagen membranes. HA mediates inflammation and acts in cell migration, adhesion, and differentiation, benefitting tissue remodeling and vascularization. These are desirable effects in guided regeneration procedures, but it is still unknown whether HA alters the barrier properties of absorbable membranes.

Osteolipoma: a rare tumor in the oral cavity.

Osteolipoma is a rarely reported histologic variant of lipoma that exhibits bone formation. To the best of our knowledge, only 13 well-documented case reports of osteolipoma in the oral cavity have been published in the English literature. This study presents the clinical, radiographic, and histologic features of an osteolipoma in the oral cavity and reviews the pertinent literature.

Hematological variables and iron status in abdominoplasty after bariatric surgery.

Background: Abdominoplasty, the treatment for abdominal wall deformity stemming from weight loss after bariatric surgery, can cause postoperative anemia. Moreover, bariatric surgery has been associated with iron deficiency, which by itself can compromise erythropoiesis. The objective of this research is to describe the development of anemia after postbariatric abdominoplasty.

[Vitamin D and fractures in the elderly].

Osteoporosis and the subsequent fractures caused by this are a source of morbidity and mortality in the elderly population. It is also often the start of the cascade that culminates in frailty and dependence. Vitamin D has a direct relationship with the appearance of osteoporosis and with the risk of fractures.

Post-bariatric abdominoplasty: skin sensation evaluation.

Background: The number of bariatric surgeries is progressively increasing in the USA and in Brazil. The number of post-bariatric plastic surgeries also increases as a response to this phenomenon. Abdominoplasties performed in former morbidly obese patients present a larger number of postoperative complications.
