In oil palm flowers, it has been documented that not all flower-visiting insects are pollinators, but some insects are recognized as predators, parasitoids or saprophages, which may affect the abundance and persistence of the weevil pollinating oil palm, . We studied the community of oil palm flower-visiting insects and investigated the covariation between the abundance and that of other dominant species.

Larval diet affects number of femoral 'brush' scales in male Helicoverpa punctigera moths (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).

Males of Helicoverpa punctigera (Wallengren) show considerable variation in the number of femoral scales on the prothoracic legs. Such intraspecific variation in adult morphology could indicate the presence of undetected sibling species, or it may be related to larval diet. Helicoverpa punctigera is polyphagous, and different host plant species are likely to represent diets of different quality.
