Dye induced luminescence properties of gold(I) complexes with near unity quantum efficiency.

To study the effect of a dye on the photoluminescence (PL) properties of metal complexes, a series of gold(I) complexes were synthesized, containing a 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin luminophore. The complexes are comprised of a coumarin moiety featuring different ancillary ligands, specifically N-heterocyclic carbenes, triphenylphosphine, and diphenyl-2-pyridylphosphine. The synthesized gold(I) complexes are luminescent both in solution and the solid state at room temperature and 77 K.

Comparative Evaluation of Microhardness and Polymerization Shrinkage in Residual Zirconia Reinforced Provisional Restorations: An In Vitro Study.

Aim The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the microhardness and polymerization shrinkage of polymethyl methacrylate reinforced with residual zirconia. Materials and methods A total of 360 resin samples were fabricated, with dimensions of 12 mm × 12 mm × 3 mm and 12 mm × 8 mm × 6 mm. Zirconia dust (40% by weight) was added to 180 of these samples.

Phospholyl and Arsolyl Triple-Decker Sandwich Complexes of Europium(II) and Strontium(II).

To study the influence of heteroatoms on the photophysical properties of divalent Eu and Sr complexes, the synthesis of the phospholyl and arsolyl compounds [{(Dtp)(thf)M}{μ-η:η-CH}] (M = Eu and Sr; Dtp = 3,4-dimethyl-2,5-bis(-butyl)phospholyl) and [{(Dtas)(thf)M}{μ-η:η-CH}] (M = Eu and Sr; Dtas = 3,4-dimethyl-2,5-bis(-butyl)arsolyl) is reported. Organometallic compounds of divalent europium with P and As heterocyclic ligands have not been described previously. They were prepared by salt elimination reactions from potassium phospholyl or arsolyl, KCH, and EuI(thf) or SrI.

Luminescent Tetranuclear Copper(I) and Gold(I) Heterobimetallic Complexes: A Phosphine Acetylide Amidinate Orthogonal Ligand Framework for Selective Complexation.

The synthesis of phosphine acetylide amidinate stabilized copper(I) and gold(I) heterobimetallic complexes was achieved by reacting ligand [{PhPC≡CC(NDipp)}Li(thf)] (Dipp=2,6-N,N'-diisopropylphenyl) with CuCl and Au(tht))Cl, yielding the eight membered ring [{PhPC≡CC(NDipp)}Cu] and the twelve membered ring [{PhPC≡CC(NDipp)}Au]. {PhPC≡CC(NDipp)}Cu] features a Cu unit, which is bridged by two amidinate ligands, served as a metalloligand to synthesize the heterobimetallic Cu/Au complexes [{(AuX)PhPC≡CC(NDipp)}Cu] (X=Cl, CF). In these reactions, the central ring structure is retained.

Heteroleptic copper(I) complexes with coumarin-substituted aminodiphosphine and diimine ligands: synthesis and photophysical studies.

The synthesis of heteroleptic Cu(I) complexes with coumarin-functionalized aminodiphosphine and diimine ligands is described. The complexes show yellow to deep-red phosphorescence in the solid state at ambient temperature with quantum yields up to 21%. The emission color of the complexes can be tuned by systematic modifications in the ligand system.

Diverse Reactions of Formazanate/Formazan with Tetrylenes: Reduction, C-H Bond Activation, Substitution and Addition.

The reactivity of the formazanate potassium salt [L K(thf)] (L PhNNC(4- BuPh)NNPh) with the group 14 chlorotetrylenes [{PhC( BuN) }ECl] (E=Si, Ge, Sn) was investigated. Three corresponding compounds with unique configurations were formed, demonstrating the diverse reactivity of the system. In addition to the anticipated salt metathesis reactions of the potassium salt with the chlorine function of tetrylenes, unexpected reduction/insertion steps into the N=N bond of the formazanate (Si, Ge) and subsequent C-H activation (Ge) were also observed.

Molecularly Engineered Surfactin Analogues Induce Nonapoptotic-Like Cell Death and Increased Selectivity in Multiple Breast Cancer Cell Types.

Surfactin, a negatively charged amphiphilic lipopeptide biosurfactant, is synthesized by the bacterium . It consists of a cyclic heptapeptide and an 11-15C β-hydroxy fatty acid. To probe how the modification of the molecular skeleton of surfactin influences its selectivity and activity against breast cancer, six synthetic surfactins were generated.

Normal preoperative levels of gamma-glutamyltransferase predict the absence of common bile duct stones in patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a retrospective cohort study.

Unlabelled: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, nowadays, is considered the gold standard option for management in patients diagnosed with symptomatic cholelithiasis. Nevertheless, some patients may have coexisting choledocholithiasis, which manifests later in life with grave complications such as cholangitis and pancreatitis. The objective of this study is to evaluate the role of preoperative gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) in predicting choledocholithiasis in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Phase-Dependent Long Persistent Phosphorescence in Coumarin-Phosphine-Based Coinage Metal Complexes.

A coumarin functionalized aminodiphosphine has been introduced as a bidentate ligand in coinage metal chemistry. Mono-, di-, and trimetallic copper and silver complexes were synthesized with this ligand. The hybrid character of the ligand led to compounds with rich luminescence properties.

Evaluation of Portable Tablet-Based Audiometry in a South Indian Population.

While a comprehensive booth audiogram is the gold standard for diagnosis of hearing loss, access to this may not be available in remote and low resource settings. The aims of this study were to validate a tablet-based audiometer in a tertiary medical center in India and explore its capacity in improving access to hearing healthcare. Subjects presenting to Ear-Nose-Throat clinics for conventional booth audiometry testing were recruited for subsequent tablet-based audiometric testing.

A unilateral FLAIR-hyperintense lesions in anti-MOG-associated encephalitis with seizures (FLAMES) case from a developing country: A case report.

Introduction: The new clinical and radiological entity of the myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is known as the FLAMES syndrome. It will add to the literature and enhance the understanding of this disease.

Case Presentation: Our case presented a 25-year-old male patient with no known comorbid presented with a generalized sudden headache of moderate intensity for 10 days who came to our hospital.

EAST in Children with Allergic rhinitis: Experience from Indian Tertiary Centre.

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is recognized as a growing global health disease with considerable importance among children and adolescents. This study aims to study the clinical and sensitization profile of children with allergic rhinitis using EAST. All children presenting to pediatric ENT outpatient with a clinical diagnosis of AR were prospectively recruited.

Congenital Nasal Pyriform Aperture Stenosis: Same CT Dimensions, Varied Scenarios.

Congenital nasal pyriform aperture stenosis (CNPAS) is a rare cause of neonatal respiratory distress. We report a case series of four infants with similar radiological dimensions but while two needed surgery, two could be managed conservatively. The clinical presentation of the child and the response to conservative treatment, rather than the radiological dimensions were the main predictors for surgical intervention.

Performance of EAST in diagnosing inhalant allergens in children with allergic rhinitis.

The performance of enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (EAST) for identifying six indoor allergens was evaluated using skin prick test (SPT) as reference tests in 154 children with allergic rhinitis. Sensitivity of EAST ranged from 9% (cat) to 54% (HDM) with specificity of 74%(cockroach) to 100% (cat) with an agreement ranged from 58 to 86%. Cut off values ​> ​0.

Selective coordination of coinage metals using orthogonal ligand scaffolds.

Group 11 metal complexes with their ability to form metallophilic interations are widely pursued to develop multifunctional luminescent materials. Heteronuclear coinage metal complexes are promising candidates to tune electronic and optical properties which are not readily accessed by their homometallic congeners. In this review, we present the concept of orthogonal ligands which are rationally designed to access heteronuclear coinage metal complexes and studied in terms of their photophysical properties.

Nasopharyngeal colonization of otopathogens in South Indian children with acute otitis media - A case control pilot study.

Background: Acute otitis media (AOM) is an inflammatory disease of the middle ear causing significant morbidity in early childhood. A pilot study was undertaken to identify the role of various risk factors South Indian children with AOM, especially the role of nasopharyngeal otopathogens.

Methodology: A prospective case control pilot study was conducted in children aged below six years, presenting to a single tertiary care from 2018 to 2019.

PD1/PD-L1 Expressions in Plasmablastic Lymphoma with Clinicopathological Correlation.

The activation of the programmed cell death one (PD1)/PD1 ligand (PD-L1) immune checkpoint pathway is a mechanism of immune evasion characterized by the upregulation of PD-L1 expression by tumor cells and by the tumor microenvironment. This activation leads to the inhibition of PD1-positive T cells and to a decrease in the anti-tumor immune response. Plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) is an aggressive type of large B-cell lymphoma with limited studies on the frequency of PD1 and PD-L1 expressions and their clinical impact.

Clinical profile of hereditary angioedema from a tertiary care centre in India.

Introduction: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a clinical condition which could be fatal if not identified and managed appropriately. Knowledge of this condition is mostly confined to individual case reports and literature reviews in India. In this retrospective study we describe HAE cases which presented to a tertiary care centre in India over a period of three and half years.

Primordial Odontogenic Tumor of Anterior Maxilla in a Young Male: A Case Report and an Updated Review of Literature.

Primordial odontogenic tumor (POT) is a recently designated benign mixed epithelial and mesenchymal odontogenic tumor and only sixteen cases have been reported worldwide till now. Here we report an another case of POT in a 14-year old boy who presented with an asymptomatic buccal enlargement in the right maxillary region for past 4-5 months. A well-defined, unilocular, radiolucent lesion with impacted teeth was observed radiographically.

Normative nasalance scores in Tamil-speaking Indian children.

Objective: The aim of this study was to obtain normative nasalance scores for Indian Tamil-speaking children.

Methods: Mean nasalance scores were obtained from 175 consecutive Tamil-speaking normal children (95 males, 80 females) aged 5-16 years during the repetition of six standardized sentences: two oral, two oronasal, and two nasal sentences. The nasal view was used to obtain nasalance scores for the standardized sentences.

A Three Point Assessment Protocol for Tympanoplasty Outcomes: A Retrospective Analysis.

 The surgical outcome of chronic otitis media (COM) of the mucosal type in the pediatric population with high rates of recurrent tympanic membrane perforation is indeed a concern for the attending surgeon.  The present study was done to evaluate the outcome of tympanoplasty in children with chronic otitis media mucosal type.  A retrospective analysis of the medical records of all children, aged < 16 years old, who underwent tympanoplasty for COM of the mucosal type was performed.

Pediatric nasal dermoid- a decade's experience from a South Indian tertiary care centre.

Introduction: Nasal dermoid sinus cyst (NDSC) are uncommon congenital lesions in children.

Objective: To review the clinical and radiological presentation and study the surgical outcomes of this uncommon lesion.

Method: Retrospective chart review of all children diagnosed with nasal dermoid from 2010 to 2020 at a tertiary referral hospital in South India was executed.
