The abundance of hyaluronic acid (HA) in human tissues attracts its thorough research in tissue regenerating scaffolds and 3D bioprintable hydrogel preparation. Though methacrylation of HA can lead to photo-crosslinkable hydrogels, the catalyst has toxicity concerns, and the hydrogel is not suitable for creating stable complex 3D structures using extrusion 3D bioprinting. In this study, a dual crosslinking on methacrylated HA is introduced, using cysteamine-grafted HA and varying concentrations of 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate.

RHIM is a protein motif facilitating the assembly of large signaling complexes triggering regulated cell death. A few DNA viruses employ viral RHIMs mimicking host RHIMs and counteract cell death by interacting with host RHIM-proteins to alleviate antiviral defenses. Whether RNA viruses operate such viral RHIMs remains unknown.

The global health crisis triggered by the SARS-CoV-2 in 2019, known as the COVID-19 pandemic, prompted vaccination drives worldwide, including in India, to address the crisis. However, vaccine hesitancy remains a significant challenge to achieving vaccination goals. Hence, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis during 2021-2023 to estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among adults in India and identify associated factors.

Purpose: To investigate the utility of a 15-minute online module to improve the self-confidence and knowledge of neurology trainees when screening an EEG.

Methods: We developed a fast, convenient, and accessible 15-minute online module to teach basic concepts of EEG screening using a five-step approach. To assess the efficacy of the module among neurology trainees, three surveys were developed.

Background: Chronic pain poses a multifaceted and prevalent challenge that significantly affects an individual's quality of life. Sensory mechanisms, behavioural components (kinesiophobia and catastrophising), and social factors can influence pain perception in both younger and older populations. Moreover, the mechanisms underlying these altered pain phenotypes require further investigation in order to plan appropriate treatment.

There are limited and conflicting data on sex and urban-rural disparities in outcomes of patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) in the reproductive age group. Our object was to assess sex disparities in the reproductive age group cohort. All adult non-elective admissions in the reproductive age group (18-49 years) with a primary diagnosis of PE and with no missing sex/age data were identified using the National Inpatient Sample.

Depression affects over 280 million people globally, yet many cases remain undiagnosed or untreated due to stigma and lack of awareness. Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) offer a way to monitor and analyze depression markers. This study analyzes Twitter data 90 days before and 90 days after a self-disclosed clinical diagnosis.

Article Synopsis
  • - Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) has developed various strategies to evade the immune system and promote its own survival by affecting host cell signaling and death pathways.
  • - The review focuses on the role of secretory proteins and modification enzymes produced by Mtb, which alter the host's epigenome and impact immune responses in favor of the pathogen.
  • - It also identifies gaps in current research on Mtb's mechanisms and suggests future research directions to better understand its effectiveness as an intracellular pathogen.

To accelerate identification of disease resistant arecanut germplasm or hybrids against , it is very much imperative to develop bioassays which could differentiate resistant and susceptible cultivars efficiently. Here, a cost effective and rapid technique, called the "Detached Leaf Assay", was developed to identify resistant germplasm at the seedling stage itself. Zoospore production in highly virulent (P19) was standardized by incubating under a 12 hours light and dark regime.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated the effect of mitral stenosis (MS) on outcomes in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with modern balloon-expandable valves, using data from over 327,000 patients across multiple centers.
  • It was found that while patients with severe MS initially had worse outcomes, when matched for similar characteristics, their 30-day outcomes were similar to those with mild or less MS, except for a higher rate of pacemaker implantation.
  • However, by three years post-TAVR, patients with severe MS showed a significantly higher mortality rate compared to those with mild or less MS, suggesting long-term risks associated with severe MS.

The present analysis examines the effect of thermal radiation on the stream of Maxwell liquid past a stretchy surface in the presence of a zero-mass flux condition. The effect of waste discharge concentration, thermophoresis-Brownian motion, and porous media on the fluid motion is also considered. Investigation of the liquid flow with waste discharge concentration in stretched sheets may lead to the growth of effective methods for disposing of waste and preventing pollution.

A non-Newtonian liquid motion across a stretchable surface is relevant to various industrial applications, including extruding plastic sheets and stretching plastic films. In connection with this, the impact of endothermic and exothermic chemical reactions on the flow of rate-type liquid via an oscillatory stretching sheet in the presence of permeable media with the Maxwell liquid model is elucidated in the present study. Scientists and engineers may enhance the efficiency of chemical reactions or heat transmission by optimising system flow and investigating the effect of reactions on flow dynamics.

Objectives: Utilising Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS®) questionnaires can enhance clinical care by measuring longitudinal changes in symptom severity as reported by the patient. The aim of this pilot study was to assess the feasibility and impact of incorporating PROMIS® questionnaires at the point-of-care in rheumatology practice.

Methods: Patients with rheumatic diseases and decrements in ≥1 PROMIS® domain (pain intensity, physical function, or sleep disturbance) were stratified by their concerning domain, then randomised to either receive an interpretation of their PROMIS® scores prior to their rheumatology appointment (Arm 1) or to usual care (Arm 2) (ClinicalTrials.

The need for non-conventional natural fibres for synthesis of hybrid composites has gained momentum in the recent past. Taking into consideration this need, in the current study, hybrid composites were fabricated by reinforcing wood apple shell powder and coconut shell powder, in the resin with varying amounts of cenospheres (up to 20 wt% in increments of 5 wt%) to evaluate their mechanical and tribological properties. The densities of these composites were directly correlated with the quantity of additives utilized.

Weight loss, through a reduction in energy intake and increase in energy expenditure, can reduce diabetes risk in people with prediabetes. However, lifestyle change can be challenging even with positive intentions. The Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) theoretical framework bridges the intention-behavior gap by targeting planning behaviors and strengthening efficacious beliefs for behavioral change.
