Background Incidental gallbladder carcinoma (IGBC) remains a significant clinical challenge, with its diagnosis often delayed due to the asymptomatic nature of the disease and its incidental discovery post-cholecystectomy. This study's aim is to calculate incidence in a high-risk, region-specific (North Indian) population and also to provide novel insights into clinical presentation as well as macroscopic and histopathological features of IGBC. Material and methods This retrospective observational study spanned four years (August 2013 to July 2016) and included a total of 3096 cases.

Article Synopsis
  • Carcinosarcoma is a rare and aggressive malignant tumor of the uterus and ovaries, often confused with high-grade endometrial carcinoma due to similar symptoms.
  • A study conducted between August 2021 and July 2024 analyzed six cases, confirming their diagnosis through a panel of immunohistochemical markers, with mean patient age being 51.5 years.
  • Histologically, the tumors displayed a biphasic composition of carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements, with notable positivity for markers like cytokeratin and vimentin, highlighting their complex nature and aggressive behavior in elderly females.

Article Synopsis
  • The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 causes COVID-19, leading to a pandemic that disrupts daily life, prompting the exploration of natural plant-based molecules as potential treatments.
  • A virtual screening using AUTODOCK Vina identified four promising natural compounds (Chebuloside, Acetoside, Corilagin, and Arjunolic Acid) based on their binding affinity to the SARS-CoV-2 Mpro enzyme.
  • Comparisons with FDA-approved drugs suggested that Chebuloside and Arjunolic Acid have similar properties to Ouabain and Hydrocortisone, respectively, indicating potential therapeutic benefits; however, further biological testing is needed to validate these findings.

Prior research has identified abnormal platelet procoagulant responses in COVID-19. Coated-platelets, a form of procoagulant platelets, support thrombin formation and are elevated in ischemic stroke patients with increased risk for recurrent infarction. Our goal was to examine changes in coated-platelet levels over the course of COVID-19 infection and determine their association with disease severity, thrombosis, and death.

We experimentally demonstrate high-speed visible light communication (VLC) and high-quality solid-state lighting (SSL) using polymethyl-methacrylate-doped phosphor film based on cesium lead bromide quantum dot (CsPbBr-QD) and potassium fluorosilicate KSiF:Mn, which is excited by a blue gallium nitride laser diode. A 1.6 Gbps data rate is achieved by employing a non-return-to-zero on-off keying modulation scheme.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study discusses using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) imaging with a dual-head gamma camera to detect recurrent colorectal cancer in a patient.
  • - While CT and MRI identified tumors in the bladder and pelvic floor, only 18F-FDG imaging revealed metastatic spread to retroperitoneal nodes.
  • - The patient underwent surgery to remove the tumor, but the retroperitoneal metastasis was only confirmed during the procedure, indicating that earlier imaging findings could have prevented unnecessary surgery.
