Aim: This study investigated the major factors contributing to the missed diagnosis of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) in fetal echocardiography.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the prenatal ultrasonic images of 32 fetuses with missed diagnoses of TAPVC, compared them with autopsy and postnatal surgical records, and summarized the most likely reasons leading to the missed diagnoses.
Results: We studied a total of 157 fetuses with TAPVC, 32 (20.
Background: Pueraria is a widely cultivated medicinal and edible homologous plant in Asia, and its tuberous roots are commonly used in the food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries. "Gange No. 5" is a local variety of Pueraria montana var.

However, the related animal models, transmission dynamics, and long-term tissue tropism of CVB1 have not been systematically characterized. In this study, we established a model of CVB1 respiratory infection in rhesus macaques and evaluated the clinical symptoms, viral load, and immune levels during the acute phase (0-14 days) and long-term recovery phase (15-30 days).

As a major risk factor for chronic illnesses in humans, the prevention and postponement of aging have become focal points of research among numerous scientists. Aging biomarkers, which mirror molecular alterations at diverse levels in organs, tissues, and cells, can be used to monitor and evaluate biological changes associated with aging.

An increasing percentage of people in China are suffering from osteoporosis, particularly postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP), as the country rapidly evolves into an aging culture. Patients with osteoporosis are inclined to endure fractures, as well as deformities and impairments, which drastically decrease people's quality of life. The benefits of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment have continued to become increasingly apparent as reports of adverse responses to Western medications increased.

Case: The diagnosis of hypoplastic left heart syndrome combined with endocardial fibroelastosis and ventriculo-coronary communication was made in a pregnant woman at 24 weeks of gestation. Interestingly, unlike diastolic flow from the coronary artery to the left ventricle in typical ventriculo-coronary communication, this fetus showed a systolic flow from the left ventricle to the coronary artery.
Objective: To explore the protective mechanism of spinosin (SPI) on Alzheimer's disease (AD) model cells, Neuro-2a/APP695 (N2a/APP695), against HO-induced oxidative stress damage, to reflect the influence of oxidative stress on the development of AD, and to provide a valuable basis for the research and development of therapeutic drug for AD.
Methods: N2a/APP695 cells were exposed to HO and then treated with spinosin. Firstly, the secretion level of amyloid β (Aβ) and the production of malondialdehyde (MDA) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay kits.
Background: Pueraria is a dry root commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine or as food and fodder, and tuberous root expansion is an important agronomic characteristic that influences its yield. However, no specific genes regulating tuberous root expansion in Pueraria have been identified. Therefore, we aimed to explore the expansion mechanism of Pueraria at six developmental stages (P1-P6), by profiling the tuberous roots of an annual local variety "Gange No.

Results show, the impermeability of compacted Loess in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River in China does not meet the standard requirement as the landfill liner. The permeability of Loess mixed with more than 10% bentonite ratio is less than 1.

However, the therapeutic outcomes are still significantly impeded, which is primarily due to the insufficient drug delivery at the arthritic site. In this study, the macrophage-targeting and pH stimuli-responsive nano-polyelectrolyte complexes were designed for the efficient targeted delivery of triptolide (TP/PNPs) on the arthritic site.

Besides, we seek to identify novel prognosis indicators for HBV-HCC patients. Between April 2009 and March 2015, this work enrolled 868 patients diagnosed with HBV-HCC and undergoing RH in the Liver Surgery Department, West China Hospital, Sichuan University (WCHSU).

Trimethylation of the H3 lysine (K) 4 (H3K4me3) in promoters is strongly correlated with gene expression. This study aimed to explore the effects of bisphenol A (BPA) exposure on EM development from the perspective of the regulation of ERβ expression in eutopic endometrium via the H3K4me3-related epigenetic pathway.

Emergent therapies using upper limb-based robot machines present opportunities to resolve the limitations inherent in Occupational therapy such as increased therapist-patient exhaustion, monotonous methods, and so forth. The aim of this parallel trial was to compare the effects of the upper limb robotic training with matched Occupational therapy training on upper limb function and independence-related quality of life in post-stroke patients within the Brunnstrom arm motor recovery stages 1 to 4.

It is well known that composite materials, consisting of at least two metal oxides, show qualities and sensing behavior very different from the single components. Recently, the preparation of core-shell nanomaterials for gas sensors has become extremely popular. Specifically, these materials have been found to show desirable sensor responses.

Female reproductive (ovarian) aging is distinctively characterized by a markedly reduced reproductive function due to a remarkable decline in quality and quantity of follicles and oocytes. Selenium (Se) has been implicated in playing many important biological roles in male fertility and reproduction; however, its potential roles in female reproduction, particularly in aging subjects, remain poorly elucidated. Therefore, in the current study we used a murine model of female reproductive aging and elucidated how different Se-levels might affect the reproductive efficiency in aging females.

The biological effects of Se are mainly carried out by selenoproteins (encoded by 25 genes in humans and 24 in mice). As an essential component of selenoproteins, Se performs structural and enzymic roles; in the latter context it is well known for its catalytic and antioxidative functions.

It causes significant hazardous effects to the food- and animal-production industries. We found a bacterial strain, 3J2MO, that degraded AFB well, and here we tested and characterized its AFB-degradation ability.

Objective: To understand the status of knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) on foodborne parasitic diseases and the influencing factors among college students in Wuhu City, so as to provide the evidence for the development of strategies on health education.
Methods: A total of 1 685 college students from five colleges were selected through the randomly stratified cluster sampling method, and then they were investigated by questionnaires to understand their KAP on foodborne parasitic diseases. Chi-square test was performed and regression models were constructed to analyze the influencing factors of knowledge on food-borne parasitic diseases.

Introduction: Pyrolytic carbon (PyC) is a kind of biomaterial which is chemically inert and has excellent biocompatibility. In order to obtain a super-hydrophobic PyC surface to improve anticoagulation and inhibit thrombus, this study prepares grating pair structure, microhole array structure, helix structure on PyC surface by nanoseconds laser etching.
Methods: Rod-like ZnO film and ball-like ZnO film are prepared on the PyC surface by the hydrothermal method; polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) nanofiber film and PVP/TiO complex nanofiber film are prepared on the PyC surface by the electrospinning method; the PyC surface is silanized.
