Background: Hypertension patients with primary aldosteronism (PA) have a higher risk of cardiovascular complications than blood pressure-matched essential hypertension (EH) patients. The cause may be closely related to inflammation. We explored the correlations between leukocyte-related inflammation parameters and plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) in PA patients and clinical characteristics-matched EH patients.

Stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) is an effective technique to transfer state coherently with the features of both high fidelity and robustness in the field of quantum information and quantum precise measurement. In this note, we present a simple method to generate arbitrary laser shapes for STIRAP by controlling the modulation depth of the electro-optic modulator (EOM) and the diffraction efficiency of the acoustic-optic modulator (AOM) simultaneously. The EOM and AOM are used to control the power ratio between the two Raman lasers (pumping laser and Stokes laser) and the total power, respectively.

Background: Epidemiological and laboratory studies support the hypothesis that several plant components influence prostate carcinogenesis and holds promise for disease prevention. Previously we reported that Nexrutine (bark extract from Phellodendron amurense) inhibits proliferation of prostate cancer cells and prostate tumor development in the transgenic adenocarcinoma of mouse prostate (TRAMP) model through modulation of Akt signaling pathway. In the present investigation we conducted studies to further define the mechanism of action of Nexrutine and to identify the active component associated with its biological activity.
