Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is increasingly diagnosed in South Asia. This survey by the Tamil Nadu Chapter of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (TNISG) documents the demography, clinical profile, and therapeutic practices related to IBD in Tamil Nadu.
Methods: TNISG members from 32 institutions completed an online cross-sectional questionnaire on IBD patients from March 2020 to January 2021.
Background: Up to 3.5% of the population experience anaphylactic reactions in response to Hymenoptera stings. Current guidelines are in place for the diagnostic workup and follow-up care of patients with Hymenoptera venom anaphylaxis (HVA).

Objective: The primary objective of the study was to identify perioperative factors associated with successful immediate extubation in the operating room after adult cardiac surgery. The secondary objective was to derive a simplified predictive scoring system to guide clinicians in operating room extubation.
Methods: All 1518 patients in this retrospective cohort study underwent standardized fast-track cardiac anesthetic protocol during adult cardiac surgery.
Instances of neurological recovery after early decompression of the spine in non-traumatic spinal cord compression are well documented. We present a patient with paraplegia of 11 months' duration due to atypical spinal tuberculosis who showed complete neurological recovery in three months.

Adult dogs underwent 2 hours of HCA (n = 39), 1 hour of HCA (n = 20), or standard CPB (n = 22) and survived 2, 8, 24, or 72 hours. Neurologic impairment and neuropathology were much more severe after 2-hour HCA than after 1-hour HCA or CPB; histopathology and neurologic deficit scores were significantly correlated.

Objective: We sought to assess the safety and efficacy of itolizumab in moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis.
Methods: A total of 225 patients were randomized (2:2:1) to 2 different itolizumab arms (A or B; A = 4-week loading dose of 0.
Abstract: Heterotopic ossification (HO) is the growth of bone in soft tissue, and can be broadly classified into neurogenic, genetic and traumatic causes. The pathophysiology of HO remains unknown. This disorder is extremely rare in infants and can mimic or coexist with thrombophlebitis, cellulitis or osteomyelitis.

We report the case of a patient with mesocardia, mitral restenosis, and mitral regurgitation. He had undergone an open mitral valvotomy 4 years earlier and, therefore, presented us with a problematic approach to the mitral valve. In such cases, access to the mitral valve is almost impossible due to the position of the valve, which is more posterior and to the left of a normal valve, and due to adhesions from the previous surgery We approached the mitral valve through the left atrial appendage and replaced the mitral valve with a mechanical prosthesis.

The study is based on a retrospective review of records from the neonatal division and the microbiology laboratory. On discriminant analysis, only three NICU sites, namely baby placements, resuscitation equipment and various cleansing solutions were found to be significantly associated with hospital-acquired infections (HAI) (P less than 0.

Serum magnesium and digoxin levels were obtained in 13 nontoxic patients with atrial fibrillation due to chronic rheumatic heart disease receiving digoxin for the control of ventricular rate and heart failure. Fairly good correlations were made between serum digoxin levels and ventricular rates. Hypomagnesemia was quite common (7 out of 13) and mean magnesium serum levels were significantly lowered in total as well in 7 hypomagnesemic patients, as compared to in healthy controls.
