Global Perspective on COVID-19 Therapies, Cardiovascular Outcomes, and Implications for Long COVID: A State-of-the-Art Review.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many therapies, of which many are repurposed and used for other diseases in the last decade such in Influenza and Ebola. We intend to provide a robust foundation for cardiovascular outcomes of the therapies to better understand the rationale for the clinical trials that were conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to gain more clarity on the steps moving forward should the repurposing provide clinical benefit in pandemic situations. With this state-of-the-art review, we aim to improve the understanding of the cardiovascular involvement of the therapies prior to, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic to provide meaningful findings to the cardiovascular specialists and clinical trials for therapies, moving on from the period of pandemic urgency.

Salvage neck surgery in recurrent nodal NPC: Do all patients require a comprehensive neck dissection in the modern MRI era?

Objective: The standard treatment for regional failure in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is the radical neck dissection (RND). Our study sought to determine if magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may accurately predict nodal involvement to allow selected levels of neck dissection to be preserved.

Study Design And Setting: We analysed retrospectively all NPC patients in our centre undergoing neck dissections as salvage therapy for nodal recurrence.

The comparative study of skin staples and polypropylene sutures for securing the mesh in Lichtenstein's tension-free inguinal hernia repair in HIV and hepatitis (B and C)-positive patients: a randomized controlled trial.

Introduction: The mesh fixation in the Lichtenstein's hernioplasty was traditionally performed with polypropylene sutures. A modification of this technique uses skin staples for securing the mesh. Using polypropylene sutures may increase the needle prick injuries (NPIs) in HIV and hepatitis-positive patients.

KSHV-encoded ORF17 encodes a protease which cleaves -Ala-Ala-, -Ala-Ser- or -Ala-Thr-bonds. The protease plays an important role in assembly and maturation of new infective virions.

Background: Sacubitril/Valsartan (ARNI) has now class 1 recommendation for treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It has been shown to reduce cardiovascular morbidity & mortality in Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and significant improvement in all echocardiographic parameters besides TEI index. Tei index is a marker of inflammation, myocardial cell metabolism and its contractile function has not been evaluated as a distinctive entity so we took up this study to evaluate the effects of ARNI on the LV functions using two dimensional (2D)ECHO parameters in Indian population and to assess TEI index for myocardial function.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of all cases reported as JGCTs during 2011-19 (8 years) was performed with detailed evaluation of clinical, histopathologic data and follow-up details.
