Energy consumption and thermal comfort of rock-cut and modern buildings.

Energy consumption in the building sector justifies the necessity of knowing the thermal comfort perception of vernacular and modern architectural types, based on which a correct recognition was reached for the design of buildings suitable for the climatic conditions of each region. It should be determined that the different types of modern and traditional architecture are in the comfort level in harsh hot climate conditions and how much energy they consume to reach the comfort level. Despite consideration of energy consumption and thermal comfort in different buildings in Iran, there is no clear framework for evaluating these two parameters in different buildings and comparing them.

Rectal gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) in a patient with Crohn's disease: a rare coincidence case report and brief literature review.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common type of gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors. The most common site for developing these neoplasms is the stomach and small intestine. In contrast, anorectal GISTs are very rare.

Bacteriological culture and direct PCR for detecting the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in the Italian eradication campaign: a decade of experience at the National Reference Laboratory.

Aims: Our study evaluates the capacity of direct real-time PCR for detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC), with a focus on diagnostic performances and the feasibility of implementing this protocol in an eradication campaign. Specifically, we compare the effectiveness of the direct PCR method to various culture systems used by the Italian National Reference Laboratory over the last decade to detect MTBC.

Methods And Results: Bovine tissue samples were routinely tested and analyzed for bovine tuberculosis (bTB) confirmation using microbiological culture (solid and liquid media), histopathological analysis, and a direct PCR assay targeting IS6110, an insertion sequence specific to the MTBC that is widely used for tuberculosis diagnosis.

Education case: a case-based approach to overlap syndromes in autoimmune liver disease in patient with ulcerative colitis.

Simultaneous occurrence of immune-based gastrointestinal diseases and autoimmune hepatitis, although not common, is of clinical importance. Some clinical and laboratory findings such as severe pruritus and elevated alkaline phosphatase raise suspicion of a biliary disease which overlaps autoimmune hepatitis. A strong clinical suspicion of overlap syndrome in a patient with autoimmune hepatitis prompts more diagnostic evaluations like MRCP, liver biopsy, and secondary laboratory tests.

Schwannoma of the lateral nasal wall: A case report.

Decontamination of fenitrothion from aqueous solutions using rGO/MoS/FeO magnetic nanosorbent: synthesis, characterization and removal application.

In the present work, rGO/MoS/FeO nanocomposite was synthesized and after confirmation of the structure by FTIR, XRD, and FESEM techniques, its performance as nanosorbent was investigated for the removal of fenitrothion pesticide from the aqueous media. SCREENER, an educational game for teaching the Drug Discovery and Development process.

Although the use of games as an educational strategy is an important current trend, there is practically no option available for training people on the Drug Discovery and Development (DDD) process. To fill this gap, we designed "SCREENER", a science game that is intended to be educational, but also challenging and interesting enough to ensure player engagement. Our main target audience is students of postgraduate programs in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacy, and medicine.

A Rare Cause of Ascites in a Young Woman Mimicking Peritoneal Carcinomatosis.

Peritoneal granulomatous reaction to foreign body-like materials of a dermoid cyst is a rare condition and has always been challenging in diagnosis for physicians. Macroscopic view of granulomatous peritoneum, which mimics peritoneal carcinomatosis or peritoneal seeding originating from ovarian carcinoma, necessitates a detailed microscopic evaluation of peritoneum, which shows multinucleated giant cells and granuloma formation indicating a foreign body reaction in the peritoneum. To avoid unnecessary radical surgeries and salvage chemotherapies in these patients, a detailed microscopic evaluation of their peritoneum is necessary.

Carotid Body Paraganglioma with Prominent Lymphocytic Infiltration Mimicking Metastatic Lymph Node: A Case Report.

Carotid body paraganglioma is a neuroendocrine neoplasm of the mandibular region. Due to its prominent stromal alternations, carotid body paraganglioma is a great emulator of other neoplasms in the head and neck region especially in metastatic tumors and its definite diagnosis is a great challenge. To the best of our knowledge, the most frequently reported variant is sclerosing and paraganglioma with a prominent lymphoplasmacytic infiltration is extremely rare.

Copper and Zinc Levels in Myelodysplastic Syndrome Patients versus Healthy Subjects.

Background: Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a heterogeneous hematological disease and certain serum factors are assumed to be involved in its pathogenesis and progression. Given this, our aim was to comparatively investigate the copper, zinc, and iron levels in MDS patients and healthy individuals.

Methods: This case-control study was conducted on 31 patients with MDS (according to the WHO criteria after investigating laboratory tests such as peripheral blood smear and bone marrow aspiration) attending Bahonar Hospital, Kerman, Iran, and 31 healthy subjects from 2016 to 2018.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Psychodynamic Group Intervention (CR-PGI): An Explorative Study.

An explorative study focusing on the process of a Cardiac Rehabilitation Psychodynamic Group Intervention (CR-PGI) addressed to myocardial infarction (MI) patients is discussed. The study aimed at analyzing whether the treatment based on CR-PGI serves as a communicational context within which MI patients are enabled to explore new interpretations of their post-infarction condition. The intervention, divided into 12 weekly one-hour group sessions, was addressed to MI patients recruited within a Public Hospital of southern Italy.

Early motherhood is a major health challenge in most developing countries. The aim of this study was to explore Iranian mothers' experiences of the outcomes of early motherhood. This qualitative study was done using the conventional inductive content analysis approach.

Evaluation of Injuries Caused by Penetrating Chest Traumas in Patients Referred to the Emergency Room.

The aim of the study was to determine the frequency of different injuries caused by penetrating chest traumas, and also the cause and type of trauma and its accompanying injuries. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study, carried out on all patients referred to the emergency room of Shahid Bahonar Hospital, Kerman, from March 2000 to September 2008, due to penetrating chest trauma. The required information including age, sex, cause of trauma, type and site of injury, and accompanying injury was obtained and used to fill out a questionnaire and then was analyzed.

Effect of replacing cotton seed cake with poultry droppings on weight gain of growing cattle at Bambui, Cameroon.

To investigate the effect of replacing cotton seed cake by poultry droppings in the diet of cattle, 30 animals were randomly allocated to three dietary treatments in a 2 x 3 factorial design, sex x treatments. The three treatments consisted of replacing 0%, 25% and 50% (T0, T25, T50 respectively) of the crude protein in 500 g of cotton seed cake with an equivalent amount of protein in poultry droppings.
