Delta and Omicron SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia: Comparison of clinical and radiological features.

Background: Computed tomography (CT) is a critical tool for the diagnosis of pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2. The Delta and Omicron variants show distinct clinical features, but the radiological differences between pneumonia caused by these variants have not been extensively studied in patients with oxygen-dependent pneumonia.

Objective: To compare the radiological and clinical features of pneumonia in patients hospitalized with oxygen-dependent SARS-CoV-2 infection caused by the Delta and Omicron variants.

A dataset of annotated free comments on the sensory perception of madeleines for benchmarking text mining techniques.

This dataset was created to investigate the impact of data collection modes and pre-processing techniques on the quality of free comment data related to consumers' sensory perceptions. A total of 200 consumers were recruited and divided into two groups of 100. Each group evaluated six madeleine samples (five distinct samples and one replicate) in a sensory analysis laboratory, using different free comment data collection modes.

ATM and IRAK1 orchestrate two distinct mechanisms of NF-κB activation in response to DNA damage.

DNA damage in cells induces the expression of inflammatory genes. However, the mechanism by which cells initiate an innate immune response in the presence of DNA lesions blocking transcription remains unknown. Here we find that genotoxic stresses lead to an acute activation of the transcription factor NF-κB through two distinct pathways, each triggered by different types of DNA lesions and coordinated by either ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) or IRAK1 kinases.

Background: Mental health care (MHC) is under pressure due to increased demands and limited capacity, resulting in long waiting lists. To improve accessibility, Mental Health Centers (MCs) were established in Central and West-Brabant starting in 2021, with the exploratory meeting (EM) as the first step.

Aim: To gain insight into citizens’ experiences with the EM, the flow to appropriate care, and contribution of action research to this process.

Exercise and footwear in medial knee osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled trial comparing flat flexible footwear to stable supportive shoes.

Objective: This randomized controlled trial (RCT) investigated whether adding daily use of flat flexible footwear (FFF) to a strengthening and aerobic exercise program improved short- and longer-term outcomes compared with adding stable supportive shoes (SSS) in people with medial tibiofemoral OA.

Methods: Participants ( = 97) with medial tibiofemoral OA were randomly assigned (1:1) to the FFF ( = 50) or SSS ( = 47) group. Participants in both groups received a 9-month intervention (3 months supervised followed by 6 months unsupervised exercise).

Undernutrition in Cleft Palate Surgery: Effects on Postoperative Fistula Formation in a Tertiary Children's Hospital in Southern Africa.

Background: Cleft palate surgery can be complicated by fistula development. It is well known that undernutrition in general leads to more postoperative complications. However, little is known about postoperative fistula development after cleft palate surgery in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC's).

Ohmic pasteurization of probiotic chocolate dairy desserts and its quality attributes.

The study evaluated the effects of conventional pasteurization and ohmic heating (OH) at different electric fields (12, 16, 20, or 24 V/cm) on probiotic chocolate dairy desserts' physicochemical, microbiological, sensory properties and volatile profiles. Both treatments were analyzed for parameters such as pH, syneresis, cream stability index, rheology, bioactive compounds (total phenolics and antioxidant capacity), and probiotic viability (Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-05) over a 28-day storage period. Ohmic heating at higher electric fields (20 and 24 V/cm) showed comparable results to pasteurization for most parameters, with non-significant differences or even higher values for some.

Search for Soft Unclustered Energy Patterns in Proton-Proton Collisions at 13 TeV.

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Evaluation of the 10 %-rule in sentinel lymph node biopsy for clinically node-negative oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has proven to reliably stage the clinically negative neck in early-stage oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The cyclononatetraenyl (Cnt) ligand is a large monoanionic ligand. It is easily synthesized by ring expansion after cyclopropanation of the cyclooctatetraenyl (Cot) ligand. The first search for the Z boson decay to ττμμ at the CERN LHC is presented, based on data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1}. Disruption of the intestinal clock drives dysbiosis and impaired barrier function in colorectal cancer.

Diet is a robust entrainment cue that regulates diurnal rhythms of the gut microbiome. We and others have shown that disruption of the circadian clock drives the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). While certain bacterial species have been suggested to play driver roles in CRC, it is unknown whether the intestinal clock impinges on the microbiome to accelerate CRC pathogenesis.

Efficacy and safety of co-trimoxazole in device-related bone and joint infections: a CRIOGO multicentre case-control study.

Objectives: Co-trimoxazole could be an alternative antibiotic to treat device-related bone and joint infection (BJI) but there are few published data about its efficacy and safety in this complex scenario to treat infection. The objective was to compare the outcome of patients with device-related BJI treated with an antibiotic regimen including co-trimoxazole versus a regimen without co-trimoxazole.

Measurement of Energy Correlators inside Jets and Determination of the Strong Coupling α_{S}(m_{Z}).

Energy correlators that describe energy-weighted distances between two or three particles in a hadronic jet are measured using an event sample of sqrt[s]=13  TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3  fb^{-1}. The measured distributions are consistent with the trends in the simulation that reveal two key features of the strong interaction: confinement and asymptotic freedom.
