Inhibitor analysis of LDL-induced platelet aggregation.

Oxidized low density lipoproteins (oxLDL) bounded to specific receptors on the platelet surface are able to activate platelets. However, the exact mechanism of signal transduction from LDL receptors into the cell still requires investigation. In the present paper inhibitors of the main enzymes of known platelet activation pathways were used to investigate the mechanism of the LDL-induced platelet aggregation.

LDL-apheresis on affine haemosorbents.

There were synthesized new hemosorbents for selective removal of LDL, based on macroporous silica, immobilised by heparine (sorbent 1) and chytozane-sulphate (sorbent 2). Experimental data showed satisfactory hemo- and biocompatibility of the new sorbents. No significant alterations in biochemical parameters were observed.

[Body lipid removal by means of continuous plasma extraction].

A method of continuous extraction of hydrophobic compounds from blood plasma is described. It is based on the passing of plasma through a column containing styrenedivinylbenzene copolymer-swollen in chloroform. Lipids are extracted from donor's plasma and in vivo from animal blood (dogs).

[Primary immunologic deficiency syndromes in man].

Current concepts on the immune system, the genesis of human T- and B-lymphocytes, and their functional properties are presented as well as current data on the pathogenesis and classification of hereditary defects of the human immune system. The main forms of immunity deficiency conditions are described. The methods for diagnosis and treatment of different forms of immunologic deficiency are substantiated.
