Monitoring bone mineral density (BMD) in adults is critical for early detection of osteoporosis and prevention of fracture, for which quantitative ultrasound (QUS) is a good non-invasive tool. We examined the associations of QUS measures, including stiffness index (SI) and T-score, with socio-demographic, lifestyle, and anthropometric correlates and risk of subsequent fracture. : Calcaneal QUS was performed using GE's Lunar Achilles EXPII among 24,651 adults (mean age 59.

Effective brain-targeted delivery systems are essential for advancing gene therapy for neurological diseases but remain limited by low transport efficiency and poor nucleic acid stability. Here, we report a library of ionizable lipids based on the tetrahydroisoquinoline structure of protoberberine alkaloids, designed to improve BBB penetration via dopamine D3 receptor-mediated endocytosis.

However, the impactof the HTGW phenotype on the simultaneous occurrence of OSA and cardiovascular diseases remains unexplored. This study aimed to determine whether the HTGW phenotype elevates the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with OSA, such as hospitalization for unstable angina and heart failure, myocardial infarction, and cardiovascular death, in patients with OSA.

We aimed to investigate a probiotic mixture comprising Bifidobacterium Longum, Streptococcus thermophilus, and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subspecies bulgaricus (BSL) in mitigating acetaminophen induced liver injury (AILI), and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.
Methods: Gut bacterial communities were analyzed in fecal samples from patients with DILI and healthy controls.
Harmful environmental DNA (eDNA) contamination in water poses significant health risks, yet traditional treatments fall short of achieving efficient removal. Here, we introduce 1MIA-Zr, a bioinspired infinite coordination polymer catalyst modeled after natural nucleases. 1MIA-Zr achieves a DNA hydrolysis rate approximately 40 times greater than that of UiO-66 REO, the previous best zirconium-based catalyst.

Alisol B 23-Acetate (AB23A) has shown beneficial effects on NASH, but its mechanism of action remains unclear. We conducted in vitro experiments by inducing L02 cell damage with free fatty acids (FFA) and administering various concentrations of AB23A.

This paper mainly reviews the basic principles and recent research advances of AlN-based BAW resonators, which are the backbone of BAW filters. We begin by summarizing the epitaxial growth of single-crystal, polycrystalline, and doped AlN films, with a focus on single-crystal AlN and ScAlN, which are currently the most popular.

Unlike conventional single-channel HEMTs, where electrons only transport laterally in the channel, DC-HEMTs exhibit additional vertical transport between the two channels along the material direction. This double-channel coupling effect significantly limits the applicability of traditional small-signal models to DC-HEMTs.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop and evaluate four predictive models for MVI: one based on clinical indicators, one on MRI assessments, one using radiomics, and a combined model integrating all data across multiple medical centers.
Introduction: is a Gram-negative bacterium and the third most commonly isolated microorganism in blood cultures from septic patients. Despite extensive research, the mechanisms underlying -induced sepsis and its pathogenesis remain unclear. Acute respiratory failure is a leading cause of mortality in systemic infections, highlighting the need to better understand the host immune response and bacterial clearance mechanisms.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccumulating evidence indicates that the gut microbiota is intricately involved in the initiation and progression of human diseases, forming a multidirectional regulatory axis centered on intestinal microbiota. This article illustrates the challenges in exploring the role of the gut microbiota in inflammatory digestive diseases, such as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and summarizes the existing microbiome-focused treatment strategies (probiotics, prebiotics, symbiotics, fecal microbiota transplantation, and bacteriophages therapy), emerging technologies (gut microbiome-on-a-chip and artificial intelligence), as well as possible future research directions. Taken together, these therapeutic strategies and technologies present both opportunities and challenges, which require researchers and clinicians to test the rationality and feasibility of various therapeutic modalities in continuous practice.

Methods And Findings: We constructed 80 PRSs for the 13 most common cancers using seven schemes and evaluated these PRSs in 100,219 participants from the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB). The optimal PRSs with the highest discriminatory ability were used to define genetic risk, and their site-specific and cross-cancer associations were assessed.

There are significant seasonal variations and differences in habitat distributions of different temperature ranges in China's surrounding waters. The range of maximum living space obtained according to the tolerance temperature shows a trend of being larger in summer and smaller in winter; and the range of viable habitat space obtained based on the suitable and optimal temperature shows a trend of being smaller in summer and larger in winter.

Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling plays a key role in the intestinal innate and adaptive immune responses, and pregnancy has effects on intestinal length and villus height. Nevertheless, it is unclear if early pregnancy modulates the expression of TLR members in the duodenum of ewes. In this study, ovine duodenums were obtained at day 16 of the estrous cycle (N16), and days 13, 16, and 25 of gestation (P13, P16, and P25) from ewes, and mRNA and protein expression of TLR members were analyzed.

Inducing hMSCs from human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), which have the advantages of autogenous and no cell number issues, is highly valuable. However, current induction methods using FBS-containing mesenchymal culture medium have problems, including immunogenicity, microbial contamination, and low efficiency.

CYP3A4 inhibitors can potentiate the therapeutic effects of CYP3A4-substrate drugs via enhancing their systematic exposure levels. Two CYP3A4 inhibitors (ritonavir and cobicistat) have already been approved for modulating the exposure levels of CYP3A4-substrate drugs.
