Introduction: The purpose of this study is to report orbital volume measurement results in patients with congenital clinical anophthalmia before and after therapy and to compare them with normal values.
Patients And Method: Normal values were obtained from 35 healthy children (22 boys, 13 girls; aged 3 month to 7 years) in whom MRI was done for non-ophthalmological reasons. 18 patients with congenital anophthalmos could be included, 9 with bilateral, 8 with unilateral disease and 1 microphthalmos.

Objective: The aim of the present work was to establish a method for orbital volume calculation based on MR scanning data for the sake of better radiation hygiene.
Materials And Methods: The orbital volumes of 35 ophthalmologically healthy children were calculated on the basis of MRI scans. After data transfer to a separate workstation, volumetric analysis was carried out by two independent radiologists using semi-automated software.
Purpose: To determine the value of MRI in the preoperative evaluation of chronic paranasal sinusitis and to compare the results with CT and intraoperative findings.
Method/materials: 42 patients with clinical signs of chronic paranasal sinusitis underwent MRI after CT evaluation on one day, with subsequent functional endoscopic sinus surgery on the next day. Coronary CT was obtained with 5-mm slices and table-feed in the prone position, while MRI was performed in the supine position with coronary T2-TSE + pd and coronary and transverse HASTE, each with 5-mm slice thickness.
The testing of Convulsofin carried out in 220 patients at 14 clinics over a period of six months confirms the international experience gained with valproic acid and sodium valproinate. The main field of application of Convulsofin according to the experience gained will again be the treatment of fits in generalised primary epilepsy for which it permits to carry out a monotherapy to a remarkable extent. The favourable effect of the preparation in photosensitivity could be confirmed.

Clonazepam (Antelepsin) was tested on 179 patients in 8 institutions during a period of 180 days. 169 patients had been unsuccessfully treated with the usual standard medication and were additionally given Antelepsin. Typical absences and attacks of the West and Lennox syndromes yielded best to treatment with the drug, with favorable effects also being produced in cases of partial or focal epilepsy.

In children and young people with congenital cataracts the verbal intelligence quotient gives higher values than the perceptive-practical IQ. Longitudinal studies show the IQv reduced, but not the IQH. Connections exist between visual acuity and the IQ value, and the causes can be assumed to be disturbances of verbal information processing.

The authors present the results of psychosomatic follow-up examinations performed on 40 children after myelodysplasia, hydrocephalus and craniostenosis operations. A total of 60 percent showed average intelligence (suitable for ordinary schools) despite considerable motor disturbances, and 27.5 percent could attend special schools.

Connections exist between the delivery technique for breech presentation cases and the intellectual development of infants. Extracted infants show lower development quotients (EQ) than others delivered with a modified Bracht. Diagnostic symptoms of early brain damage are found in either group.

A method is given for determining the general formula UO(2+x), of sintered uranium dioxide pellets and uranium dioxide powders. Uranium(VI) is reduced by titration with iron(II) ammonium sulphate, after which the total amount of uranium is oxidized by titration with potassium dichromate. The end-points of both titrations are detected electrometrically.
