Background And Purpose: Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGlus) are obligate dimer G protein coupled receptors that can all homodimerize and heterodimerize in select combinations. Responses of mGlu heterodimers to selective ligands, including orthosteric agonists and allosteric modulators, are largely unknown.
Experimental Approach: The pharmacological properties of each group II and III mGlu homodimer (except mGlu6) and several heterodimers were examined when stochastically assembled in HEK293T cells, or specifically measured using an improved G protein mediated BRET assay employing complimented fragments of NanoLuciferase.
From early on, infants show a preference for infant-directed speech (IDS) over adult-directed speech (ADS), and exposure to IDS has been correlated with language outcome measures such as vocabulary. The present multi-laboratory study explores this issue by investigating whether there is a link between early preference for IDS and later vocabulary size. Infants' preference for IDS was tested as part of the ManyBabies 1 project, and follow-up CDI data were collected from a subsample of this dataset at 18 and 24 months.

The gabapentenoids such as gabapentin (GP) and pregabalin are approved for the treatment of chronic pain, but their utility is limited by persistent side effects. Methods: Within the CORE-MD project, we performed a scoping review on evidence from clinical trials investigating high-risk paediatric medical devices used in paediatric cardiology, diabetology, orthopaedics and surgery, in patients aged 0-21 years. We searched Medline and Embase from 1st January 2017 to 9th November 2022.
Context: Global sales of compression garments have risen sharply in recent years. Due to the availability of a wide range of compression garments, this study aims to evaluate the effect of two types of compression garments and kinesio tape on edema formation and tissue perfusion in the lower extremities. Over-the-counter compression knee stockings and kinesio tape were compared with a prototype of high-end compression stockings that combine kinesio tape and a common knee bandage.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks became an effective hygienic measure to reduce infection rates. Given the relevance of facial expressions for social interactions, the question arises how face masks affect early social interactions.
