Purpose: Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) is the sixth most common cancer, with approximately 225,419 new cases with over 125,000 deaths annually in India. This trial compared the efficacy and safety of biosimilar cetuximab versus innovator cetuximab (IC) in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with recurrent locoregional or metastatic SCCHN.

Methods: This phase III trial is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind and parallel group study performed in Indian patients with recurrent locoregional or metastatic SCCHN.

Integrated pest management (IPM) is a comprehensive approach to managing diseases, focusing on combining various strategies to reduce pathogen populations effectively and in an environmentally conscious way. We investigated the effects of IPM on beneficial microbial populations and its relationship with pathogen populations in both direct-seeded rice (DSR) and transplanted rice (TR) systems. This study demonstrates that IPM practices have significantly higher populations of beneficial microbes, such as and , and lower level of the pathogen compared to non-IPM (farmer practices).

Aim: To study the role of pattern of invasion, tumor budding and other clinicopathological parameters in determining the risk of nodal metastases and disease-free survival in oral squamous cell cancer patients.

Method: The data of 90 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma who underwent surgery as their primary modality of treatment were retrospectively analysed. Predictive significance of clinicopathological parameters was assessed with Univariate analysis with Fisher exact test and unpaired t-test.

A group of N-phenylbenzofuran-2-carboxamide and N-phenylbenzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxamide derivatives were designed and synthesized as a novel class of Aβ42 aggregation modulators. In the thioflavin-T based fluorescence aggregation kinetics study, compounds 4 a, 4 b, 5 a and 5 b possessing a methoxyphenol pharmacophore were able to demonstrate concentration dependent inhibition of Aβ42 aggregation with maximum inhibition of 54 % observed for compound 4 b. In contrast, incorporation of a 4-methoxyphenyl ring in compounds 4 d and 5 d led to a significant increase in Aβ42 fibrillogenesis demonstrating their ability to accelerate Aβ42 aggregation.

Moth bean (Vigna aconitifolia), a drought and heat-resistant legume from the Fabaceae family, is commonly cultivated in arid and semi-arid regions of the Indian subcontinent In September 2022, phyllody symptoms (Figure 1) were observed on 50-days-old moth bean plants at the ICAR-NBPGR research farm in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. The disease incidence ranged from 10 to 25%. To investigate the cause, ten symptomatic VacoJod (1-10) and ten asymptomatic VacoJod (11-20) Vigna aconitifolia plants were collected.

Background: There is a lack of understanding in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease that has hindered progress on therapeutic development. The focus has been on targeting toxic amyloid-β (Aβ) pathology, but these therapeutics have generally failed in clinical trials. Aβ is an aggregation-prone protein that has been shown to disrupt cell membrane structure in molecular biophysics studies and interfere with membrane receptor signaling in cell and animal studies.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the effects of caustic ingestion on gastric acid secretion in patients who have ingested harmful substances.
  • The research involved 20 patients, mostly young adults, who showed significantly lower gastric acid secretion compared to healthy controls, even after stimulation tests.
  • Results indicate that patients with lower esophageal strictures face even greater decreases in acid output, highlighting potential complications from caustic ingestion.
