The failure and crashworthiness performance of hybrid Polylactide (PLA)/Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) composite tubes subjected to axial and radial quasistatic compression loads were investigated in the present study. The composite tubes are fabricated using hand lay-up and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)-filament winding processes. The crashworthiness performance was studied using parameters such as the peak load, energy absorption, crush load, crushing load efficiency, and specific energy absorption.

Article Synopsis
  • Far infrared radiation (FIR) between 4-14 μm can benefit human health by improving blood flow, leading to the development of health-promoting textiles using FIR-emitting additives in polymer fabrics.
  • The study focused on biochar from candlenuts combined with activated carbon in polypropylene films, finding that its inclusion increased FIR emissivity and enhanced UV/NIR blocking capabilities.
  • Biochar significantly improved temperature retention and tensile strength of the fibers, suggesting its potential for use in warming clothing and longer-lasting materials compared to other common additives.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to observe the influence of level physical training intensity on left ventricular (LV) adaptation in elite air force soldiers compared to regular basic military training.

Methods: The LV adaptation of special military physical training for elite air force soldiers was compared with basic military training for regular troops. A group of the nonmilitary subject was also evaluated as a control group.

The current study investigates the effect of a hybrid L-profile aluminium/glass-fiber-reinforced polymer stacking sequence under axial and lateral compression loads. Four stacking sequences are studied: aluminium (A)-glass-fiber (GF)-AGF, GFA, GFAGF, and AGFA. In the axial compression test, the aluminium/GFRP hybrid tends to crush in a more progressive and stable failure than the net aluminium and net GFRP specimens, with a relatively more stable load-carrying capacity throughout the experimental tests.
