Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a serious parasitic infectious disease that is highly invasive and destructive to the liver and has a high mortality rate. However, currently, there is no effective targeted imaging and treatment method for the precise detection and therapy of AE. We proposed a new two-step targeting strategy (TSTS) for AE based on poly(lactic--glycolic acid) (PLGA).

Objective: Lower limb discrepancy (LLD) was frequently observed in patients with idiopathic scoliosis (IS), potentially associated with etiopathogenesis. Although sole lifts had been proposed as a conservative treatment for IS, evidence supporting their efficacy was limited. This study aimed to assess the effects of sole lift intervention on pediatric patients with mild IS, specifically focusing on thoracolumbar/lumbar (TL/L) curvature.

In this study, three different materials were prepared: dendritic fiber-type silica (KCC-1), zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8), and a new composite material called KCC-1@ZIF-8. These materials were synthesized using microemulsion, stirring, and coating methods, respectively. The properties of the materials were characterized using various techniques such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), TGA and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

M1 macrophage-mediated excessive inflammatory response plays a key role in the onset and progression of acute pancreatitis (AP), and this study aimed to investigate the role and underlying mechanisms by which the macrophage polarization-related long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) MM2P participated in the regulation of AP progression. By performing quantitative reverse-transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) assay, lncRNA MM2P was found to be downregulated in both sodium taurocholate-induced AP model mice tissues and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells, and gain-of-function experiments confirmed that overexpression of lncRNA MM2P counteracted inflammatory responses, reduced macrophage infiltration and facilitated M1-to-M2 transformation of macrophages to ameliorate AP development in vitro and in vivo.

A comparison of different surgical approaches to hemiarthroplasty for the femoral neck fractures: A meta-analysis.

There are three traditional surgical approaches to hemiarthroplasty (HA) for femoral neck fractures, respectively, the anterior approach (AA), the lateral approach (LA) and the posterior approach (PA). However, the optimum approach is still controversial, the purpose of this meta-analysis is to identify the merits and demerits of all three approaches. All clinical published studies in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and the Cochrane Library from January 2000 to April 2022 were searched which compared different surgical approaches and covered surgery-related outcomes and frequent complications.

Introduction: Secondhand smoke exposure in many countries decreased dramatically after the implementation of smoke-free legislation in public places, but the exposure at home did not change to the same degree. The aim of this study was to describe the status and correlates of a home smoking ban in Chongqing, China.

Methods: From June to August 2021, we selected two healthcare centers in the East, West, North, South and Middle regions of Chongqing.

This study aims to explore the association between coronary artery calcification score and serum concentrations of vitamin K1, menaquinone-4 (MK-4) and menaquinone-7 (MK-7) in middle-aged and elderly Chinese population.

This study aimed to observe the analgesic effect of dexmedetomidine combined with ropivacaine erector spinae plane block (ESPB) used in posterior lumbar spine surgery.

Methods: In this clinical trial, patients undergoing posterior lumbar spine surgery were recruited and randomly divided into two groups: intervention and control.

Background: The pathological diagnosis of bladder cancer workup relies on cystoscopy, however, due to sampling restriction, the depth of local invasion is often understaged.

Methods: A total of 386 patients with bladder urothelial carcinoma underwent follow-up. The data collected included age, sex, tumor size, surgical options, histologic grade, invasive depth, lymph node metastasis, and oncological outcomes, and the patients were divided into coral-like and crumb-like groups.

Factors Affecting the Quality of Bowel Preparation Before Colonoscopy in Outpatient: A Prospective Observational Study.

Colonoscopy is an effective method for screening colorectal cancer and adenoma, but the adenoma detection rate depends on the quality of bowel preparation. Our study investigates the influencing factors of the quality of bowel preparation before colonoscopy in outpatients and the influence of the number of walking steps on the quality of bowel preparation. We prospectively collected the clinical data of 150 outpatients undergoing colonoscopy in our department in 2019.
