The incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) increases with age; however, the precise mechanisms by which aging elevates AF risk and the effective biomarkers for managing AF in elderly patients remain unclear. We analyzed plasma samples from 100 elderly AF patients, 100 young and 100 elderly patients without atrial fibrillation (NAF), along with left atrial tissues obtained from both AF and NAF patients following valve replacement. Our findings indicate reduced levels of β-OHB and citrate synthase (CS) activity in elderly AF patients compared to their NAF counterparts.

Based on the PRISMA framework, the Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, and PubMed databases were searched up to May 12, 2024, for articles on associations between workplace bullying and family functioning. A total of 1347 articles were identified, of which 37 were found after review to meet the criteria for inclusion.

The early prediction of LOS is still a challenge. This study evaluated whether immunological state of LL37 or Tregs precedes LOS.

The first critical step in cell therapy is to obtain high-quality cells. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the quantity and quality of UCBMNCs from very preterm infants (VPIs) for the purpose of autologous cell therapy in prevention and treatment of preterm complications.

For the present analysis, pit mud samples from different spatial locations within fermentation cellars were collected, and the yeast communities therein were assessed via culture-based and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) approaches. These analyses revealed significant differences in the composition of yeast communities present in different layers of pit mud.

As a micronutrient trace element, selenium (Se) can mitigate the adverse effects induced by PFOS and Cd. However, few studies have examined the correlation between Se, PFOS and Cd in fish.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of temperature change and different fertilization on PhytOC accumulation. The pot experiment was established with different fertilization (including control (CK), nitrogen fertilizers (N), silicon fertilizers (Si), and a combination of nitrogen and silicon (NSi)) under high- and low-temperature.

Moreover, prenatal exposure to severe inflammation increases the risk of IVH in preterm neonates. The current study investigated whether intrauterine exposure to inflammation affects cerebral angiogenesis and its underlying mechanisms.

Severe BPD was associated with higher risks of mortality, more postnatal growth failure, long term respiratory and neurological developmental retardation. Inflammation plays a central role in alveolar simplification and dysregulated vascularization of BPD.

Among all complications, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) remains the first important cause of neonatal mortality and morbidity.

Aqueous solutions containing toxic elements (TEs) (such as hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) can be toxic to humans even at trace levels. Thus, removing TEs from the aqueous environment is essential for the protection of biodiversity, hydrosphere ecosystems, and humans. For plant fabrication of zinc oxide nanoparticles (PF-ZnONPs), plants were used, and X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), SEM, and FTIR techniques were used for the identification of PF-ZnONPs and ZnONPs, which were used to remove Cr (VI) from aqueous solution.

Herein, a self-powered triboelectric patch was developed using polytetrafluoroethylene rubbed with nylon fabric. The triboelectric patch can maintain a stable electrostatic field, due to the excess electrification on the surface of the triboelectric layer.

Little is known about the concentrations of these PTEs around Hainan Island in China, or their distribution and human health risks. Understanding the variability of PTEs in marine sediments and how they accumulate is important not only for biodiversity and ecological conservation, but also for management of aquatic natural resources and human health risk assessments.

Interleukin (IL)-35 is a novel anti-inflammatory cytokine that mainly produced by regulatory T (Treg). This study was performed to analyze whether IL-35 was correlated with obesity in RA and investigate the correlation between other Th1/Th2/Th17-related cytokines and obesity in RA.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) is the most serious solid tumor type throughout the world. The present study aimed to identify novel biomarkers and potential efficacious small drugs in PAAD using integrated bioinformatics analyses. A total of 4777 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were filtered, 2536 upregulated DEGs and 2241 downregulated DEGs.

While high systemic interleukin- (IL-) 6 levels are associated with clinical cytokine release syndrome (CRS), the role of IL-6 trans-signaling within CAR T-cells has not been reported. We generated CAR T cells that constitutively express hyper IL-6 (HIL-6), a designer cytokine that activates the trans-signaling pathway.

To prepare Cangyi nanoemulsion in situ gel and study its nasal mucosa release mechanism in vitro. After proper treatment of different drugs in the compound, the prescription of nanoemulsion was determined by pseudo-ternary phase diagram method. With the ratio of mixed emulsifier to oil phase [(S+COS)/O], the ratio of mixed emulsifier(K_m), the ratio of water phase to mixed emulsifier and oil phase[W/(S+COS+O)] as investigation factors and the normalized value(OD) as evaluation index, the prescription of Cangyi nanoemulsion was optimized by central composite design-response surface method.

In this regard, we investigated the effects of different concentrations of bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP7) on the differentiation of rat pancreatic ductal epithelial-like stem cells (PDESCs) into β-like cells. For inducement of the differentiation, PDESCs were cultured in the basal media (H-DMEM + 10 % FBS + 1% penicillin-streptomycin) supplemented with 5 ng/mL, 10 ng/mL, 15 ng/mL, and 20 ng/mL of BMP7 for 28 days.
