A bifrequency ultrasonic generating trough was used to improve disintegration of sewage sludge from thickener tanks. Ultrasonic operating parameters such as frequency, power, and time were optimized. Carbonation technology with CO(2) absorption was used to enhance the stabilization of heavy metals in fresh fly ash from a municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI).
