Background: Ocular disorders can arise in the advanced stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) for various reasons, including uraemia, biochemical abnormalities, hypertension and inadequate haemodialysis treatment.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study at the Pediatric Nephrology Department, both inpatient and outpatient, of from January 2020 to July 2021. The study aimed to identify and compare ophthalmological changes among children at different stages of CKD to assess potential visual threats.
For the past two decades, Bangladesh has faced recurrent dengue outbreaks, with the most recent occurring in 2023. We investigated the socioeconomic, clinical, and laboratory aspects of patients diagnosed with dengue during this outbreak. This observational study was conducted from July to September 2023 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Chittagong Medical College Hospital, and included 450 confirmed cases of dengue.

In order to conduct this study, 36 Wistar rats that were collected at 5 weeks of age and weighed an average of 70 g were split into two groups: 28 of them were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) and 8 of them were fed a control diet. After 5 weeks of feeding, rats from the HFD (obese, n = 4) and the control diet group (n = 4) were sacrificed.

The purpose of this study was to verify if the spot morning urinary Copper/ Zinc (Cu/Zn) ratio could be used as a replacement parameter of 24-hours urinary copper excretion in the diagnosis of WD.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh, from June 2019 to May 2021 on 67 children over three years of age who presented with liver disease.
Background and objective: Urticaria is distinguished by the activation of mast cells and basophils via degranulation, predominantly induced by the cross-linkage of allergens with specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies. Several hypotheses propose that intradermal injections of IgE stimulate the production of antibodies that are specifically targeted towards the histamine/immunoglobulin complex. Subsequently, these antibodies exhibit binding affinity towards and exert inhibitory effects on the generation of histamine during the occurrence of allergic responses.

Milk is a good natural source of it, and calcium-vitamin D supplements are widely available over-the-counter and prescribed in clinical practice. But the effect of milk intake and calcium-vitamin D supplementation on serum vitamin D status is not known.

Specifically agricultural products in African, Southeast Asian and hot and humid regions of American countries suffer most damage from aflatoxin producing molds due to the ideal climate conditions promoting their growth. Our recent studies suggest that (Vg), an estuarine bacterium non-pathogenic to plants and humans, can significantly inhibit aflatoxin biosynthesis in the producers.

However, a locally adapted Bangla version of the PDI (-PDI) instrument is currently lacking in Bangladesh. To translate the instrument, adapt, and validate it among psoriatic patients of the country was the objective of the study.

Thus, we tried to determine a consensus association between the IL-6 gene rs1800795 polymorphism and multiple disease risks through an updated statistical meta-analysis.
Method: After systematically searching online databases, we found 149 case-control relevant datasets with a sample size of 96,153 (cases: 38,291 and controls: 57862) and conducted the meta-analysis using updated statistical models.
Background: The molecular subtyping of breast cancer is related to estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). The present study aimed to systematically analyze the expression, function, and prognostic value of ER, PR, HER2, and their prevalence in different ethnic groups and among Bangladeshi breast cancer (BC) patients.
Method: This study included 25 BC patients and 25 healthy controls, aged between 25 and 70 years.

Humans rely on both kin and non-kin social ties for a wide range of support. In patrilocal societies that practice village exogamy, women can face the challenge of building new supportive networks when they move to their husband's village and leave many genetic kin behind. In this paper, we track how women from 10 diverse communities in rural Bangladesh build supportive networks after migrating to their husband's village, comparing their trajectories with women who remained in their childhood village (Bengali: = 317, Santal: = 36, Hajong: = 39, Mandi: = 36).

So, conducting more population-based studies is crucial. This case-control study was designed to quantitatively evaluate potential risk factors for breast cancer.

A good number SGA studies also investigated the association of HIF1A gene with several other diseases, but no researcher yet performed statistical meta-analysis to confirm this association more accurately. Therefore, in this paper, we performed a statistical meta-analysis to draw a consensus decision about the association of HIF1A gene polymorphisms with several diseases except cancers giving the weight on large sample size.

Since the genetic polymorphism of oxytocin receptor (OXTR) and arginine-vasopressin V1B receptor (AVPR1B) relate to prosocial behavior and empathy, it would need to innovate strategies for treating human empathy by considering individual genetic variations. Physical activity is expected as a possible strategy; here, we investigated the influences of genetic polymorphisms in OXTR SNP rs53576 and AVPR1B SNP rs28373064, on the relationships of self-reported empathy with physical activity.

The product of the gene is related to the regulation of mood and social behavior, sleep, appetite, memory, digestion, and sexual desire. This protein is a target for antidepressant and psychostimulant drugs, thus prolonged neurotransmitter signaling remains blocked.

Purpose: Overexpression of the gene is significantly associated with different types of cancers, including breast cancer. In this study, the effects of single-nucleotide polymorphisms rs11549465, rs11549467, and rs2057482 of the gene and their association with breast cancer were systematically investigated through meta-analysis.
Materials And Methods: After a systematic review, nine case-control studies of the rs11549465 C/T polymorphism, six case-control studies of the rs11549467 G/A polymorphism, and one case-control study of the rs2057482 C/T polymorphism were included in this meta-analysis.
Empathy is one of the essential functions of mammals for maintaining relationships with others. Physical activity contributes to enhancing empathic attitude and behavior; however, it is remained to cover the effective intensity of exercise on mammal empathy. Here, we tested the effects of light-intensity exercise, which has beneficial effects on expressing neurotrophic factors in the brain, on empathic behavior.

Here, we measured 887 college students' amounts of physical activity, sitting time, self-reported cognitive and affective empathy, and perceived social support before and after easing campus entrance restrictions. The amounts of total activity, vigorous-intensity, and moderate-intensity activity in college students, both male and female, increased after easing restrictions of accessing the campus compared during restrictions.

Currently, inadequate information is available regarding the implementation of this technique (HTPMC) in Malaysia. This study is aimed at evaluating the implementation of HTPMC by Malaysia's pediatric dentists and identify the co-occurrence frequencies of the HTPMC implementation with the respondents' demographic profile.

This study investigated whether the progression of memory dysfunction and dysregulated brain glycogen metabolism is prevented with 4 mo of exercise intervention from the presymptomatic stage in a T2DM rat model. Memory function and biochemical and molecular profiles were assessed in the presymptomatic stage of Otsuka-Long-Evans-Tokushima fatty (OLETF) rats, a T2DM model, with Long-Evans Tokushima (LETO) rats as genetic control.

It is possible that the exercise-induced ACTH response is regulated at least by arginine vasopressin (AVP) and possibly by corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH), but this remains unclear. To clarify the involvement of these factors, it is useful to intervene pharmacologically in the regulatory mechanisms, with a physiologically acceptable exercise model.
