Background: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is the preferred treatment for large renal stones, yet variability in outcomes arises from patient-specific factors and institutional practices. Understanding complications and predictors of success is essential to improving procedural efficacy.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate stone clearance rates, complications classified using the Clavien-Dindo system, and predictors of PCNL outcomes, with a focus on improving lower calyx stone clearance.

Moyamoya phenomenon following clipping of intracranial aneurysm: case report.

Subarachnoid haemorrhage from aneurysmal rupture is a common emergency in neurosurgery. Depending on aneurysm position, morphology, size, associated clot, and symptoms, it is either managed by endovascular occlusion or by clipping. Here we report the first known case of secondary Moyamoya phenomenon following the clipping of a supraclinoid internal carotid artery Aneurysm.

A Convenient One-Pot Synthesis of Novel Benzimidazole-Thiazinone Derivatives and Their Antimicrobial Activity.

The increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistant highlights the urgent need for the new therapeutic agents. This study aimed to design and synthesize fused tricyclic benzimidazole-thiazinone derivatives (-) through a convenient method and evaluate their antimicrobial activity against various microorganisms. A series of fused tricyclic benzimidazole-thiazinone derivatives was rationally designed and synthesized in one pot by the reaction between trans substituted acrylic acids and 1-benzo[d]imidazole-2-thiol using coupling reagent TBTU (2-(1-benzotriazol-1-yl)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyluronium tetrafluoroborate).

Comparative analysis of bulk ceramics and thick film coatings for optimized energy storage technologies.

The present investigation provides an easy and affordable strategy for fabrication of functional ceramics BiNaTiO-SrFeO (BNT-SrF5) thick films on a flexible, inexpensive and electrically integrated substrate using electrophoretic deposition process (EPD). EPD is a widely accepted, environmentally friendly method for applying coatings from a colloidal suspension to conductive substrates. Lead-free ferroelectric BNT-SrF5 powder was synthesized by solid state method to fabricate bulk samples and thick films (30-160 μm) by EPD process.

Assessment of organochlorine pesticide residues in agricultural soils of southern Nigeria and analysis of potential health risks.

The use of pesticides in commercial farms can lead to exposure among various vulnerable groups. This study assessed the distribution, human health risks, and origins of 13 targeted organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in soil samples from commercial farms in Southern Nigeria. Following a questionnaire survey on pesticide usage, soil samples were subjected to Soxhlet extraction and analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Nitrous Oxide-Induced Vitamin B12 Deficiency and Myelopathy in Whippets Abusers: A Report of Two Cases.

Whippets abuse, prevalent among recreational drug users, poses significant health risks, particularly through the inactivation of vitamin B12 by nitrous oxide (NO). This deficiency can lead to myelopathy, resulting in serious neurological complications. We present two female patients, aged 22 and 35, with a history of regular whippet use over the past three years, who exhibited clinical symptoms of myelopathy, including motor weakness, rigidity, sensory changes, and gait abnormalities.

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Young Adults.

Objective: To evaluate the risk factors for early onset of coronary artery disease (CAD) and assess the preoperative presentation, perioperative course, survival, and short-term complications after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) in patients aged 45 years or younger undergoing CABG.

Compassionate access to virus-specific T cells for adoptive immunotherapy over 15 years.

Adoptive T-cell immunotherapy holds great promise for the treatment of viral complications in immunocompromised patients resistant to standard anti-viral strategies. We present a retrospective analysis of 78 patients from 19 hospitals across Australia and New Zealand, treated over the last 15 years with "off-the-shelf" allogeneic T cells directed to a combination of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), BK polyomavirus (BKV), John Cunningham virus (JCV) and/or adenovirus (AdV) under the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration's Special Access Scheme. Most patients had severe post-transplant viral complications, including drug-resistant end-organ CMV disease, BKV-associated haemorrhagic cystitis and EBV-driven post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder.

Rasmussen aneurysm: A hidden hazard.

Tuberculosis is endemic in Pakistan and other countries in South Asia despite various treatment programs being introduced for its elimination. It leads to a number of serious consequences which involve different organ systems of the body and Rasmussen Aneurysm is one such serious complication. It is the pseudo-aneurysmal dilatation of the pulmonary artery adjacent to a tubercular cavity and manifests as massive hemoptysis, like in the case of our patient.

Optimizing Antitumor Effect of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer via Rosmarinic Acid-β-Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complex.

: Rosmarinic acid (ROS) has gained notable attention for its anticancer potential; however, its limited aqueous solubility hinders its effective delivery and application in pharmaceutical formulations. : To overcome this limitation, an inclusion complex of ROS with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was prepared using the recrystallization method. The resultant ROS-β-CD complex was comprehensively characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

An imaging scheme to study the flow dynamics of co-flow regimes in microfluidics: implications for nanoprecipitation.

Co-flow microfluidics, in addition to its applications in droplet generation, has gained popularity for use with miscible solvent systems (continuous microfluidics). By leveraging the short diffusional distances in miniature devices, processes like nanomaterial synthesis can be precisely tailored for high-throughput production. In this context, the manipulation of flow regimes-from laminar to vortex formation, as well as the generation of turbulent and turbulent jet flows-plays a significant role in optimizing these processes.

Pure Sensory Thalamic Stroke Presenting As Hemiballismus: A Case Report.

Strokes are a major cause of morbidity and mortality across the globe. An ischemic stroke of thalamic origin should be considered if a patient presents with a set of non-localizing symptoms such as speech issues, sensory abnormalities, chorea-like movements, ataxia and confusion that cannot be explained by a single lesion. A 78-year-old female with a past medical history of hypertension and smoking developed right-hand numbness and ataxia that progressively worsened to numbness of the entire right side of the body and right-arm hemiballismus.
