In the single-stage partial nitritation-anammox process for high-ammonium wastewater treatment, the presence of sufficient biomass with high activity is essential. This study developed an innovative airlift inner-circulation partition bioreactor (AIPBR) with a dual-cylinder structure. During the 362 days' operation, the AIPBR exhibited robust and stable nitrogen removal performance under diverse influent ammonium spanning from 300 to 1800 mg N/L.

Lots of evidences showed the microglia presented mitochondrial fragmentation during SAE. This study investigated the protective effects and novel mechanisms of inhibiting microglia mitochondrial fragmentation via mitochondrial division inhibitor 1 (Mdivi-1) on cognitive damage in SAE.

The potential regulatory effects of phenolic synthesis triggered by ROS signaling molecules during TS treatment were determined. Results showed that TS treatment significantly activated the activities of key enzymes associated with phenylpropanoid metabolism in FCLs, resulting in an increase in the total phenolic content (TPC), including gallic acid, epicatechin and rutin, consequently enhancing the antioxidant capacity.

This study aimed to evaluate whether multimodal prehabilitation decreases postoperative complications and improves functional recovery in frail elderly patients undergoing gastric cancer surgery, in comparison to usual clinical care.
Methods: This study was a single-center, single-blind, randomized controlled trial.
Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a prevalent inflammatory disorder affecting the upper respiratory tract. Recent studies have indicated an association between CRSwNP and mitochondrial metabolic disorder characterized by impaired metabolic pathways; however, the precise mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to investigate the mitochondrial-related signature in individuals diagnosed with CRSwNP.

This study explores the impact of pore structure in chitin-based porous carbon on EF cathode effectiveness. We fabricated mesoporous carbon (CPC-700-2) and microporous carbon (ZPC-700-3) using template and activation methods, retaining nitrogen from the precursors.

The lack of visual dynamic spray characterization has made the understanding of the physical processes governing atomization and drug particle formation difficult. This study aimed to investigate the changes in the spray plume morphology and aerodynamic particle size of solution-based pressurized metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs) under different conditions to achieve better drug deposition. Solution-based pMDIs were studied, and the effects of various factors, such as propellant concentration, orifice diameters, and atomization chamber volume, on drug deposition were examined by analyzing the characteristics of spray plume and aerodynamic particle size.

Additionally, the acoustic field distribution was analysis using COMSOL Multiphysics. The low-filed NMR results demonstrated that ultrasonic curing induced a leftward shift in T and a rightward shift in T, accompanied by a significant reduction in A, thereby enhancing the water-holding capacity of pork.

In this paper, we present a summary of the results of the clinical trials that have been conducted to evaluate the efficacy of laparoscopic and open-access pancreatic resection for pancreatic carcinoma of the end of the pancreas. Systematic review of the comparison between laparoscopy and open-access pancreatic resection was conducted.

However, there are few studies on the correlation between the serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and cancer patients with COVID-19. This study aims to investigate the association between serum CRP and the incidence of COVID-19 pneumonia in cancer patients at the end of 2022 in China.

In the field of transport, hydrogen energy has become a new type of energy that people pay attention to due to its easy production and nonpolluting generation. The use of hydrogen as a fuel in internal combustion engines can be a good way to make a low-cost and clean conversion of the current internal combustion engine, thus realizing the application of hydrogen energy in vehicles.

However, there are only few effective methods to address these issues. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), actively secreted by cells, play a crucial role in intercellular information transmission and cargo transportation.

Due to the challenging dewatering properties of sludge, current mechanical dewatering methods are no longer sufficient to meet the escalating water content standards of sludge. This paper summarizes the characteristics of various sludge and raises reasons for the their dewaterability differences.

In this paper, the dechlorination and carbonization behavior of PVC in ethanol-water/water system under different process parameters (temperature, residence time, solid-liquid ratio) was studied, and hydrothermal carbon was characterized by SEM, elemental analysis, TG-DTG, XPS, Py-GC/MS. The results show that temperature is the key to the hydrothermal dechlorination of PVC, and the dechlorination efficiency of PVC is the highest by parameter optimization (220°C-90 min-10% S/D-80% E/D), which can reach 96.

Long-term hyperglycemia in the kidney results in renal insufficiency, and eventually leads to end-stage renal disease. Epigenetic factor ASH2L has long been identified as a transcriptional activator, and we previously indicated that ASH2L aggravated fibrosis and inflammation in high glucose-induced glomerular mesangial cells, but the pathophysiological relevance and the mechanism of ASH2L-mediated H3K4me3 in DN is not well understood.

In this research, an "off-on" long-wavelength fluorescent probe (DCMN-Cl) based on (E)-2-(3-(2-(6-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)vinyl)-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-ylidene) malononitrile (DCMN) is designed and synthesized for cysteine (Cys) detection. DCMN-Cl exhibits a large Stokes shift (211 nm) and shows rapid response and high specificity to Cys. The fluorescence initensity at 635 nm reveals a good linear relationship with Cys concentration in the 0 to 50 μM range, and the detection limit is as low as 159 nM.
