Tumor angiogenesis is characterized by abnormal vessel morphology, endowing tumor with highly hypoxia and unresponsive toward treatment. To date, mounting angiogenic factors have been discovered as therapeutic targets in antiangiogenic drug development. Among them, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) inhibitors exerts potent antiangiogenic activity in tumor therapy.

Background: MicroRNA-381 (miR-381) has been reported to play suppressive or promoting roles in different malignancies. However, the expression level, biological function, and underlying mechanisms of miR-381 in gastric cancer remain poorly understood. Our previous study indicated that transmembrane protein 16A (TMEM16A) contributed to migration and invasion of gastric cancer and predicted poor prognosis.

Background: The SCAI-defined PMI was found to be associated with worse prognosis than the PMI diagnosed by other definitions. However, few large-sample studies have attempted to predict the risk of SCAI-defined PMI.

The filamentous Cyanobacterium Arthrospira is commercially produced and is a functional, high-value, health food. We identified 5 low temperature and low light intensity tolerant strains of Arthrospira sp. (GMPA1, GMPA7, GMPB1, GMPC1, and GMPC3) using ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis and low temperature screening.

Gemcitabine sensitization is important for the treatment of pancreatic cancer. We have previously shown that DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs) over-expression causes Akt activation and gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer cells. Here, we aim to downregulate DNA-PKcs via introduction of micorRNA-101 ("miR-101").

Conducting polymer polypyrrole (PPy) possesses good biocompatibility and conductivity and has been used as functional coatings in bone tissue regeneration. In this study, a cholic acid doped PPy nanowires (PPy NWs) coating was electrochemically polymerized on the surface of titanium (Ti). The porous intertwined PPy NWs coating exhibited excellent electrical conductivity and electrochemical activity, better hydrophilicity and higher surface energy.

Purpose: To report a case of surgical interventions for a patient with relapsing polychondritis who presented with late ocular complications.
Observations: A 44-year-old male was diagnosed to have relapsing polychondritis on the basis of recurrent acute auricular chondritis, deformity of the ear, saddle nose deformity and painful nasal chondritis, acute ocular inflammation with conjunctivitis, episcleritis and keratouveitis, laryngotracheal chondritis, erythema nodosum in the skin, a history of polyarthritis, and abnormal blood examination findings. The acute ocular and auricular inflammation was resolved with oral corticosteroid treatment.
Objective: To investigate the effect of folic acid (FA) supplementation on the risks of preterm delivery (PTD) and small for gestational age births (SGA).
Data Sources: Cohort studies were identified from MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and CBM from inception to January 2015.
Participants And Included Studies: Healthy women who want to get pregnancy or being pregnant.
Background: State-related brain structural alterations in patients with episodic tension-type headache (ETTH) are unclear. We aimed to conduct a longitudinal study to explore dynamic gray matter (GM) changes between the pain and pain-free phases in ETTH.
Methods: We recruited 40 treatment-naïve ETTH patients and 40 healthy controls.
Objectives: To provide prevalence and trends of underweight, overweight, and obesity among reproductive-age women and adolescent girls in rural China.
Methods: We measured weight and height in 16 742 344 women aged 20 to 49 years and 178 556 girls aged 15 to 19 years from the National Free Preconception Health Examination Project between 2010 and 2014.
Results: Among women, the prevalence of underweight was 7.

Single particle cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM) is a technique that allows the structural characterization of macromolecules without the need for crystallization. For certain type of samples that are ideally suited for cryo-EM studies it has been possible to reach high-resolution structures following relatively standard procedures. Other biological systems remain highly challenging, even for cryo-EM.

Hypoxia inducible factor (HIF), consisting of the functional subunit, HIF‑1α, and the constitutively expressed HIF‑1β, is involved in the pathological processes associated with hypoxia. In the current study, the sequences of cDNAs and amino acids of HIF were characterized and analyzed using online bioinformatics tools.

The aim of this study was to investigate the association between body mass index (BMI) and mildly decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) among Chinese population.
Design And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1,100 subjects under health screenings.
Angelicin is a member of a well-known class of chemical photosensitizes that have anticancer proper-ties in several cancer cell lines. However, the effects and the potential underlying mechanisms of angelicin action on human lung cancer cells remain unclear. Here, we report that angelicin has an essential role in inhibiting human lung carcinoma growth and metastasis.

Design: Cross-sectional questionnaire study.
Setting: The study was conducted in 22 general hospitals in seven cities located in the eastern and western part of China.

The biochemical function of inflammasomes is to activate caspase-1, which leads to the maturation of interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) and IL-18 and the induction of pyroptosis, a form of cell death. Unlike other inflammasomes, the NLRP3 inflammasome can be activated by diverse stimuli.

The structures of RNA Polymerase (Pol) II pre-initiation complexes (PIC) have recently been determined at near-atomic resolution, elucidating unprecedented mechanistic details of promoter opening during transcription initiation. The key structural features of promoter opening are summarized here. Structural knowledge of Pol I and III PIC is also briefly discussed.

A time-saving, cost-effective and egg-independent influenza vaccine approach is important particularly when responding to an emerging pandemic. We fabricated coated, two-layer protein nanoclusters from recombinant trimeric hemagglutinin from an avian-origin H7N9 influenza A virus as an approach for vaccine development in response to an emerging pandemic.

These antibodies show unprecedented clinical benefit in various advanced cancers, particularly in melanoma. However, only a subset of cancer patients responds to current PD-L1/PD-1-blocking strategies, highlighting the need for further advancements in PD-L1/PD-1-based immunotherapy.

Dynamic welding, being the principal mechanism of sticking failure, correlates closely with the contact bounce of electromechanical relay. The typical waveforms of dynamic contact force and contact voltage at making and breaking process are obtained with the use of a new designed test rig. The variations in bounce time, bounce numbers, last bounce duration, and relevant welding force are investigated in the electrical endurance test.
