The acquisition of an early ether inhaler stimulated research into several inhalers classified as Bruck inhalers. Ludwig Hermann Bruck was a German migrant who arrived in Australia in 1873. He became a medical publisher, importer of medical instruments, and made unique contributions to early Australian medical publishing, most significantly as the first publisher of .

To date, eight anti-seizure medications (ASMs) have been specifically approved by the U.S.

A total of 46 patients with severe obesity were included, with samples collected both before and after bariatric surgery. Additionally, 15 healthy, non-obese individuals who did not undergo surgery served as controls and were studied once.

Only a small percentage of routine EEGs show interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) and overall misdiagnosis rates of epilepsy are 20% to 30%. We aim to demonstrate how network properties in EEG recordings can be used to improve the speed and accuracy differentiating epilepsy from mimics, such as functional seizures - even in the absence of IEDs.

The immunostimulatory dsRNA cleavage products of RNase L activity (RL RNAs) recruit diverse dsRNA sensors to activate signaling pathways to amplify interferon (IFN) production and activate inflammasome, but the sensors that promote cell death are not known. In this study, we found that DEAH-box polypeptide 15 (DHX15) and retinoic acid-inducible gene I (Rig-I) are essential for apoptosis induced by RL RNAs and require mitochondrial antiviral signaling (MAVS), c-Jun amino terminal kinase (JNK), and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) for caspase-3-mediated intrinsic apoptosis.

Previous studies have explored various data imputation approaches on AD data, but the systematic evaluation of deep learning algorithms for imputing heterogeneous and comprehensive AD data is limited. This study investigates the efficacy of denoising autoencoder-based imputation of missing key features of heterogeneous data that comprised tau-PET, MRI, cognitive and functional assessments, genotype, sociodemographic, and medical history.

Over a century later, it is a widely used, standard-of-care therapy for typically treatment-resistant epilepsy worldwide. There are currently five versions of ketogenic diet therapy that can be started either in or out of the hospital setting.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the proportions of Black and White patients with lung cancer, stratified by age at diagnosis, who would have been eligible for lung cancer screening.
Methods: Incident lung cancer cases among Black and White individuals aged 50-80 years with a smoking history in the Southern Community Cohort Study (SCCS) were identified for analysis.
Introduction And Importance: There are few cases of multiple simultaneous anterior communicating artery (AComA) aneurysms with A2 triplication and AComA duplication.
Cases Presentation: (1) A fenestrated AComA with a saccular aneurysm (neck diameter 9 mm; dome height 8 mm) projecting superiorly from the distal AComA branch, as well as an anomalous artery arising from the posterior surface of the same AComA. (2) A duplicate AComA with a saccular aneurysm (neck diameter of 5 mm; dome height of 9 mm) projecting superioposteriorly from the distal AComA branch, as well as an anomalous artery arising from the anterior surface of the same AComA was diagnosed.
Bisphenols (BPs) are pervasive environmental contaminants extensively found in indoor environments worldwide. Despite their ubiquitous presence and potential health risks, there remains a notable gap in the comprehensive reviews focusing on BPs in indoor dust. Existing literature often addresses specific aspects such as exposure pathways, transformation products, or biomonitoring techniques, but lacks a consolidated, in-depth review encompassing all these facets.

We investigated the requirements, challenges, associated timeline, and costs of conducting a multi-site pivotal clinical trial for a Class II pediatric physiologic monitoring device.
Methods: This case study focused on the negotiation of clinical trial agreements (CTAs), budgets, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) processing times for a pediatric device trial.

Axonal modulation therapy (AMT), directed at the sympathetic chain, blocks efferent sympathetic outflow to the heart and is a strategy to transiently and controllably mitigate chronic MI-associated sympatho-excitation. In porcine models, we evaluated scalable AMT, directed at the paravertebral chain, in blocking reflex-mediated pacing-induced sympatho-excitation post-MI.

Laparoscopic staplers are used extensively to seal and transect tissue. These devices compress tissue between the stapler jaws to achieve a desired compressed tissue thickness in preparation for stapling. The extent and rate of compression are dependent on surgeon technique, tissue characteristics, and stapler type, all of which can impact stapling outcomes such as bleeding, staple line leaks, and tissue healing.

Background: Despite an increasing number of female oncologists, disparities persist in authorship representation of women, especially in high-impact journals.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate gender differences in authorship within select high-impact Indian oncology journals over a 5-year period, assessing trends in the gender gap.
Methods: Six high-impact Indian oncology journals were selected for analysis.

Chemists are increasingly turning to biology for inspiration to develop novel and superior synthetic materials. Here, we present an innovative peptide design strategy for tubular assembly. In this simple design, a phenylene urea unit is introduced as an aglet at the N-terminus of the peptide.
