Introduction and importance: Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease characterized by the destruction of postsynaptic acetylcholine receptors in skeletal striated muscles. It is most common in young women. Myasthenia can be diagnosed by the detection of anti-acetylcholine receptor antibodies.
