Recent years have witnessed an intense effort to unravel magnetic field effects in electrocatalysis, as they can enhance the performance of common electrocatalysts. Both experimental and theoretical studies have shown that magnetic fields may affect, among others, the macroscopic spin-orbital ordering, charge transport, bubble release, and electron transfer kinetics. This paper highlights Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) as a tool to analyze and separate the effects of magnetic field on both the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions at cobalt iron oxide electrodes.

Lone mothers have been found to report lower average mental health than partnered mothers. Following the 'stress process model', disparities in women's mental health by family structure could be explained by lone mothers' higher exposure to multiple forms of stressors, compared to partnered mothers. Yet, this hypothesis has not been tested in previous studies.

Protein-folding chaperone HSP90 buffers genetic variation in diverse organisms, but the clinical significance of HSP90 buffering in disease remains unclear. Here, we show that HSP90 buffers mutations in the BRCT domain of BRCA1. HSP90-buffered mutations encode protein variants that retain interactions with partner proteins and rely on HSP90 for protein stability and function in cell survival.

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) arise from diffuse neuroendocrine cells and are categorized as either well-differentiated and less proliferative Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs), divided into low (G1), middle (G2), and high grades (G3), or poorly differentiated, and more proliferative Neuroendocrine Carcinomas (NECs). Low-grade NENs typically necessitate surgical intervention, whereas high-grade ones often require chemotherapy. However, low-grade NENs may exhibit aggressive behavior.

The reaction of MnCl·4HO with HL ((1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methanol) and pdH (1, 3 propanediol) in a basic MeCN solution results in the formation of a mixed-valence [Mn] cationic cluster and two [MnCl] counter anions. The metallic skeleton of the cluster describes two geometrically equivalent mixed-valent, linked [Mn Mn ] supertetrahedra in which nearest-neighbor metal ions have a different oxidation state. Magnetic susceptibility, magnetization data and heat capacity measurements support evidence of predominant ferromagnetic correlations, leading to a = 22 spin ground state for the [Mn Mn ] supertetrahedra, which are pair-linked by a weak antiferromagnetic coupling.

Disease-specific changes in tumors and other diseased tissues are an important target of research because they provide clues on the pathophysiology of the disease as well as uncovering potentially useful markers for diagnosis and treatment. Here, we report a new cyclic peptide, CESPLLSEC (CES), that specifically accumulated (homed) in intracranial U87MG and the WT-GBM model of glioblastoma from intravenous (IV) injection, associating with the vasculature. Affinity chromatography of U87MG tumor extracts on insolubilized CES peptide identified Synaptosomal Associated Protein 25 (SNAP25) as a candidate target molecule (receptor) for CES.
