The fungus was found to cause natural epizootics in leafhopper (Busoniomimus manjunathi) infesting Garcinia gummi-gutta (Malabar tamarind), an evergreen spice tree native to South and Southeast Asia, known for its use as a culinary flavourant, dietary supplement and traditional remedy for various human ailments. The fungus was found to cause more than 60% mortality in field collected insects.

Objective: To document correlation between vitamin B12 deficiency and severity of thrombocytopenia, platelate recovery and duration of hospital stay in dengue fever patients.
Methods: This prospective observationl study was done in dengue fever patient with severe prolonged thrombocytopenia (<20,000 µl and > 2 days duration). Patient with underlying malignancy, hematological disorders, septicemia, or use of any drug which may cause thrombocytopenia, were excluded.
Serotonin receptor, 5-HTR, agonists and partial agonists have established drug candidates for psychiatric and neurologic disorders. Recently, we reported the synthesis and evaluation of arylpiperazine derivatives of 3,5-dioxo-(2H,4H)-1,2,4-triazine as 5-HTR ligands. Herein, we generated a homology model of the receptor and docked the ligands against it, predicted the stability of the receptor model and complexes by molecular dynamics and generated a 3D-QSAR model for the arylpiperazine derivatives of 3,5-dioxo-(2H,4H)-1,2,4-triazine.

Intermolecular hydrogen bonds play a crucial role in determining the unique characteristics of liquid water. We present low-frequency (1 Hz-40 MHz) dielectric spectroscopic investigations on water in the presence and absence of added solutes at different temperatures from 10 °C to 60 °C. The intersection points of temperature dependent permittivity contours at the vicinity of isopermitive frequency (IPF) in water are recorded and its properties are presumed to be related to the extent of hydrogen bond networks in water.

The isolate exhibited direct plant growth promoting traits by production of indole-3-acetic acid and ammonia and by solubilizing inorganic phosphate and zinc. It also showed indirect plant growth promoting traits by producing siderophores and cell wall-degrading enzymes like, α-amylases, cellulases and proteases.

Progressive increase in extracellular proteolytic activity with respect to growth was detected in cultures of necrotrophic oomycete Pythium myriotylum Dreschler with maximum activity detected at stationary phase of growth. For a given extinction coefficient, the absorption characteristics of the GNPs contributed more to the depolarization of the turbid medium, and the contribution of scattering was significant only for the larger-sized particles. For rod-shaped GNPs, their depolarization plays an important role in the low scattering regime in which the depolarization properties of the nanoparticles (NPs) dominate in the turbid medium even if the contribution of the scattering from the NPs is about an order of magnitude less.
