At present, clinical treatment using sodium hyaluronate hydrogel injection is limited by its relatively low fluidity, short-term retention, and insufficient bioactive ingredients, so it is necessary to develop an advanced healing-promoting hydrogel. The modulation of the microenvironment by presents a bioactive component that can facilitate the regeneration of the functional layer.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFacilitating neuronal differentiation of stem cells and microenvironment remodeling are the key challenges in cell-based transplantation strategies for central nervous system regeneration. Herein, the study harnesses the intrinsic pro-neural differentiation potential of nerve-derived extracellular matrix (NDEM) and its specific affinity for cytokines to develop an NDEM-gelatin methacryloyl(gelMA)-based bifunctional hydrogel delivery system for stem cells and cytokines. This system promotes the neural differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) and optimizes the therapeutic index of Interleukin-4 (IL-4) for spinal cord injury (SCI) treatment.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 116 patients who developed liver metastasis after gastric cancer surgery and were admitted to Gansu Provincial Cancer Hospital between January 2018 and February 2020. The observation group, consisting of 62 patients, received TACE with fluorouracil (FU) + irinotecan (CPT-11) + oxaliplatin (OXA) and moderate lipiodol embolization.
Aim: To explore the value and effectiveness of continuous nursing in obese patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
Methods: A total of 164 obese patients who were admitted to Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital and underwent planned laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in 2022 were retrospectively selected as the control group, and another 164 obese patients undergoing the same surgery in 2022 were chosen as the research group. The control group received routine care, while the research group received continuous nursing care.
Heat stress (HS) at the reproductive stage detrimentally affects crop yields and seed quality. However, the molecular mechanisms that protect reproductive processes in plants under HS remain largely unknown. Here, we report that Acetylation Lowers Binding Affinity 3 (ALBA3) is crucial for safeguarding male fertility against HS in Arabidopsis.

The MHC region's complexity and high genetic diversity make it challenging to analyze using short-read sequencing (SRS) technology. We sequence the MHC region of 100 Han Chinese individuals using both long-read sequencing (LRS) and SRS platforms at approximately 30X coverage to study genetic alterations and their potential functional impacts.

The current investigation aims to explore the role of the Bambi gene in skeletal muscle, focusing on its implications for muscle hypertrophy and systemic metabolism. We hypothesize that skeletal muscle-specific deletion of Bambi induces muscle hypertrophy, improves metabolic performance, and activates thermogenic adipocytes via the reprogramming of progenitor of iWAT, offering potential therapeutic strategies for metabolic syndromes.

This analysis evaluated the population pharmacokinetics (PopPK) of durvalumab, and exposure-response for efficacy and safety (ERES) of TOPAZ-1.
Methods: The PopPK model for durvalumab was updated using data from 5 previously analysed studies and TOPAZ-1.
Wild birds are one of the main natural reservoirs for avian influenza viruses, and their migratory behavior significantly influences the transmission of avian influenza. To better describe the migratory behavior of wild birds, a system of reaction-advection-diffusion equations is developed to characterize the interactions among wild birds, poultry, and humans. By the next-generation operator, the basic reproduction number of the model is formulated.

Organic materials are promising as battery electrodes due to their flexible design, low cost, and sustainability. Although high electrolyte concentrations are known to suppress organic cathode dissolution, the organic cathode solubility depends on the interplay between the electrode and electrolyte polarities, which remains unexplored. Here, we elucidate the delicate interplay of electrode and electrolyte polarities to achieve stable cycling of organic cathode.

Methods: Using two independent well-characterized cohorts (n = 881 in total), we investigated the group differences in plasma N-terminal tau (NT1-tau) fragments across different AD stages and their association with cross-sectional and longitudinal amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques, tau tangles, brain atrophy, and cognitive decline.
Results: Plasma NT1-tau significantly increased in symptomatic AD and displayed positive associations with Aβ PET (positron emission tomography) and tau PET.
